WWE Rehiring Two Stars At Royal Rumble?

Melina and Cameron are reportedly set to be surprises at the WWE Royal Rumble, PWInsider.com reports.

One name that won’t return at the Rumble is Karrion Kross. The former two-time NXT Champion Karrion Kross was released by the company back in November last year alongside her fiance and on-screen valet Scarlett Bordeaux. It was speculated that he might be heading to AEW. The star himself spoke about his reaction to the fans wanting him to join AEW and if there was a possibility at that time.

Karrion Kross on possibility of joining AEW

Asked by Chris Van Vliet on Insight if AEW was a possibility at the time, Kross replied in a positive tone. He said that he was trying to ‘swerve’ the fans. Here is what he said:

“Yes. Around that time, I was trying to swerve people as to where I was going to go. At the time when I put the post out on Twitter, I already knew and I was trying my absolute best to protect that as much as I could. I said, ‘Hey, where would you like to see me next?’ It was an overwhelming amount of people who wanted to see me go to AEW. I had that Peter Griffin moment like ‘Ahhh.'”

Later in the interview, when asked how he thinks things would have gone in AEW, Kross replied:

“I’d probably still be wrestling [laughs]. I’m sure I would have been happy and creatively fulfilled. All of my friends work for AEW. I had only a couple of friends work in WWE. I would have been in good company, not that I wasn’t in NXT, the locker room is awesome there. I think I would have loved it.”

The 36-year-old won the NXT Championship twice during his 16-month spell with gold and black brand between April 2020 and August 2021. After undergoing a character transformation, he lasted four months on RAW before the company released him in November. Karrion Kross had defeated John Morrison in his final WWE match on October 10, 2021 at a live event in Bakersfield, California.
