WWE Reject Bringing Back Former Champions

FTR who previously worked as The Revival in WWE is currently working in AEW. The duo became Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler following their release and joined AEW.  The team is currently the double tag team champions – in their first reign with both the ROH World Tag Team Championship and AAA World Tag Team Championship. It has been recently noted that ‘The Hitman’ will be in corner of FTR in an independent promotion. Bret Hart even called FTR the world’s best tag team last month. Another report stated that WWE is interested in their return to the company.

WWE is seemingly not planning FTR return

Ringside News reported that they have asked around about this report and they were told that WWE isn’t as interested as previously reported. In fact, a tenured member of the backstage team told us that “there is no interest in bringing back FTR.”

We were told that Dax and Cash “tried to float interest in returning through Edge,” but there was none. It turns out that WWE has no real interest in bringing back the former tag team champions. There are also some in the company who don’t have the best memories of The Top Guys.

“They are seen as mid-carders who just complain, both internally and to the media, and they’re not seen as appealing to a worldwide audience past the hardcores who are too busy giving star ratings for matches.”

It was additionally reported that “Cash was the worst” of the two when it came to complaining. There were also confrontations with members of the creative team over their direction on WWE television. We will have to wait and see if WWE ever change their minds and decide to bring back the former WWE RAW and SmackDown Tag-Team Champions.
