WWE removes match from Wrestlemania 34 card

Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens

Daniel Bryan ‘fired’ Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn for attacking Shane McMahon on last week’s episode of SmackDown Live as seen on this week’s episode of the show.

Since then the company has removed the announced match between KO and Zayn from the official WrestleMania match card and removed their profiles from as well.

Not only that but Kevin Owens has gone on and changed his Twitter handle from @FightOwensFight to @FightSteenFight based on the ring name he used in the independent circuit.

Though as we noted before, both these stars will be a part of WrestleMania 34 and they are likely to face the team of Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan at the show.

No word yet on if their on-screen firing means that they’ll miss out some TV time before returning for Mania and we’ll have to tune in to SmackDown Live next week to figure that out.

We have seen many times that rematch clauses are generally ignored when WWE wants to, so do not expect it to ever be reinforced.

Kevin Owens was the WWE Universal Champion on Raw since he been on Smackdown he been put in mid card since he got there. He never wanted to go to Smackdown plus he still has a return match clause for the WWE Universal Championship that he can use at anytime he wants.

RAW doesn’t really need them right now. They certainly don’t need Sami Zayn. RAW is the home of “big man” main eventers like Braun Strowman, Brock Lesnar, Kane, Roman Reigns, Cass, etc. SmackDown made Zayn a main event talent. If he goes back to RAW, he will just be relegated back to the midcard. I think he’s in the right place on SmackDown. Owens may move, but I think Zayn is staying right where he is. Unless they really want to mix things up and move some of the big guys to SmackDown.

They both will be returning to Raw after Wrestlemania.
