Vince McMahon recently announced his retirement from his roles as Chairman and CEO of WWE. It was later clarified that he was also done with his work on creative. Some reports have emerged regarding his backstage performance as well. It was revealed that Stephanie McMahon and Nick Khan will serve as Co-CEOs of WWE, while Triple H is EVP of Talent Relations and Head of Creative. It has been noted that WWE’s stock has also continued to rise since that shocking news.
Stephanie McMahon addresses WWE sale rumors
Though there is a the rise in stock value, several rumors have emerged that there is apossibility of the promotion being sold. While there is no official news regarding the company being sold, Stephanie McMahon did address the rumors.
The rumors were addressed by Stephanie during the second quarter 2022 investors’ call. However, Stephanie neither confirmed, nor denied the rumors, giving a non-committal response. The Wrestling Observer reported that McMahon replied that they are always thinking about what is best for the company.
She also addresses the between the lines of the question which is a sale. She said VKM is still controlling shareholder and their management team is always thinking about what is best.
It has been noted this is not the first time the company has been surrounded by rumors of being sold. Similar reports had taken place when the promotion had started releasing wrestlers from their contracts back in June last year. There is no official confirmation regarding the matter and the company is carrying on with the usual programming.
“That being said, Vince McMahon, is still very much the controlling shareholder. He still has his eyes for what is best for our business in terms of maximizing return to our shareholders, of which he is the biggest shareholder. Nick, Paul, Frank, and I remain focused on delivering the maximum results to our shareholders. We will properly evaluate any opportunity that comes our way with that lens in mind,” said Stephanie.
