WWE are currently cutting down on their expenses and they made some huge changes backstage. It was previously reported that backstage production is down to one camera crew and how much trouble that is causing. It turns out catering took a major blow as well.

WWE not doing any surprise returns
It has been noted that the arena supplies catering for Superstars and staff during WWE events. “The selection is a little more” than pizza, hot dogs, and nachos, but “in a business that requires athletes to train and eat properly, pizza, nachos, hot dogs and arena food are not a smart budget item.”
DEGA Catering worked with WWE for a very long time, but they were part of the cuts. A tenured member of the backstage crew also told us that new catering is coming in November, but it will be “cheaper.”
WWE legendary announcer Jerry Lawler had once revealed that WWE spent $20k on catering for each show. This was obviously a budget item that WWE President Nick Khan nixed.
WWE have been involved in a cost-cutting structure by firing over 60 people at once from their backstage crew, consolidating several departments into one new “WWE Media” division under Kevin Dunn. That downsizing also affected how WWE produces their shows because they are now down to one backstage camera crew.
WWE “cut the backstage camera crews down to one.” A tenured member of the creative team described this decision as “short sighted.” It was also told to us that the move “just puts more and more pressure on the writers and the backstage crew.” WWE’s backstage segments are now shot with one camera crew which can cause a bit of an issue when coordinating things. They are forced to make things work to the best of their ability.
