WWE seemingly had huge plans for Rob Gronkowski

Rob Gronkowski retired from the NFL and then signed a deal with WWE. He made an appearance at WrestleMania 36, winning the WWE 24/7 Title. However, once it became possible for him to play against Tom Brady, he signed with NFL again. He was traded to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, thus confirming that he is no longer retired.

NFL contracts have a clause in them which bans risky behavior. As wrestling is a dangerous endeavor, it is likely he will not be allowed to take any bumps. Gronkowski performing another dive from the overlook in the WWE Performance Center is likely not happening either.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the company had big plans for Gronkowski at Summerslam in Boston this year. However, all that is in question now.

Gronkowski was supposed to be a big part of the local promotion of SummerSlam in Boston this year. Who knows if this would be possible.

We will have to see what will become of Rob Gronkowski.
