WWE seemingly halted NXT Superstar’s main roster call-up

WWE is looking to inject new blood into the main roster by calling up NXT Superstars.  Chelsea Green will be making her way to the main roster soon and Matt Riddle already debuted on Smackdown.

As reported earlier, there were talks of Io Shirai and Velveteen Dream being called up to the main roster following NXT TakeOver: In Your House. However, it seems that is in question following the conclusion of the event.

Io Shirai won the NXT Women’s Championship at the event. While she can travel to other brands as the champion, her being called up to the main roster is unlikely now.

According to a report by Wrestle Talk, WWE seemingly halted Velveteen Dream’s call-up as well. However, no details behind the reason for the cancellation were provided. It is possible that the recent accusations made against him were part of the reason. This is not the first time his call-up was nixed by WWE.

Our sources have confirmed that while [Velveteen Dream] was discussed as someone to potentially bring up, higher-ups in both WWE and down in NXT have made the call to keep the former North American Champion with the black and gold brand for the time being.

We will have to see what is next for Velveteen Dream.
