Paul Heyman was the Executive Director for Monday Night RAW and had a lot of supporters backstage in the company. However, he was still fired from his position. It seems this move upset an important figure in the USA Network.
Chris McCumber stepped down from his position as President of USA Network and SyFy Channel. It was not mentioned as to why he left the position, but he was upset over WWE firing Paul Heyman from his role as Executive Director.
The significance of McCumber’s departure is not known, but WWE certainly lost a major key figure. At one point of time, he was the only individual the company had to talk to and now that will no longer be the case.
McCumber was known to be a Paul Heyman supporter and wasn’t happy when he was taken off his role with Raw. He had been sold on the idea of a time frame of declining ratings in order to rebuild and create a generation of new stars, and was less happy when the emphasis was put on older stars. Whether he still felt that way a ratings somewhat stabilized is unclear
It is unlikely the USA Network will cancel Monday Night RAW, but they still expect WWE to increase their numbers for the show.
