In the past few years, WWE’s product has become more progressive than it ever was.
The company has made noticeable efforts to mend past mistakes and it shows. Jessica Carr became the company’s first full-time female referee in 2017 and now, the company has added another female referee to its roster.
WWE announced yesterday that it has signed Aja Perera to a contract. Perera, whose new name going forward will be Aja Smith, will be the company’s first-ever full-time African-American female referee.
Aja Smith will be a part of WWE’s NXT brand going forward.
For Aja Smith, a dream has now become history. https://t.co/3MODmf0dVx
