It’s been rumored for quite some time that the WWE was working on trying to bring Walter Hahn, known professionally as WALTER, into their ranks. Now, it looks like the company has finally agreed to a deal with the Austrian powerhouse.
PWInsider revealed today that the WWE has officially signed Hahn to a deal, bringing him into their NXT UK brand. Hahn has held quite a bit of gold during his career and is currently the PROGRESS Wrestling World Champion, as well as Defiant Wrestling’s Internet Champion.
Hahn also earned a 5-star rating from Dave Meltzer for his classic against Zack Sabre Jr. last year in Pro Wrestling Guerrilla.
With the WWE bringing WALTER into NXT UK, it’s possible that he may be the one to finally dethrone Pete Dunne. While the current WWE UK Champion will face Joe Coffey for the title at NXT UK TakeOver: Blackpool, Dunne’s 555+ reign with the belt is something the company won’t want to break until the right guy steps up to the plate.
Whether that ends up being Coffey or the newly signed WALTER, we’re unsure. What we do know is that the UK Division, which is being brutalized by the heavyweight trio of the Coffey Brothers & Wolfgang, just added another monster to their roster, and that could spell trouble for the Bruiserweight.
