The rumor mill of how WWE treats their talent started way back when. It was very hush-hush and on the down low for a very lengthy amount of time. For the longest bit, you would have to know an insider or you would need to pay to read the magazines that had a little extra behind the scenes antics in them. Since then, we have seen the growth of social media and the breaking of kayfabe. Now, we have former WWE employees speaking out about their time in the company and what they didn’t enjoy about it which has made for a reoccurring hostile environment for many.
As it were, we have seen that WWE has released a countless amount of names that fans were very fond of. Fast forward to just when we thought releases were over and we are hit with them again on the black and yellow brand of NXT. Upwards of ten stars have been released from WWE’s developmental brand in this most recent expulsion of stars. While many didn’t see it coming, there was one star who not only asked for it, but wanted it.
Roderick Strong is a name that had some heft to it in NXT as there had always been something that involved him on the brand. Looking through the dirt sheets it seems that he had asked for his release out of WWE/NXT multiple times over the course of his career and has recently asked again for his release. As it looks to be right now, he has been denied of such from the company as he wanted to go out with the ten other stars that have been let go.
As of now, there is no word on if he was offered a position elsewhere or if he just wants to end his career. More on this as news develops.
