The last SmackDown Tag Team Champions the Hardy Boyz had to relinquish the titles due to Jeff Hardy requiring a knee surgery recently.
Since then fans have been wondering what the company will do about the tag titles, especially because without Hardys, the tag team division for the show has become limited to 4 teams.
There were even concerns of Vince McMahon hurting the NXT storylines by calling up some talents from the development territory; however, it appears that the Officials are instead planning to put together a few new teams.
WWE.com recently published a new article about the SmackDown Tag Titles and in the post; they teased several new tag teams, including Finn Balor & Ali and Shane McMahon & Elias.
The company has confirmed that Shane McMahon will make an announcement regarding the belts on this week’s episode of the show.
So It’d be interesting to see if any of these teased teams actually get to compete for the Tag Titles and what route the company goes for crowning the new champions.
