WWE Top Name Quits Before SmackDown After Scandal

On January 25th, Janel Grant, a former WWE staff member, filed a lawsuit against WWE, John Laurinaitis, and Vince McMahon, accusing them of sexual assault, emotional abuse, and sex trafficking, with alleged incidents dating back to March 2019. The lawsuit contains serious allegations against these high-profile individuals, raising concerns about significant misconduct within the company and questioning the safety and integrity of WWE’s workplace environment.

Amid these developments, Chief Operating Officer Brad Blum resigned from WWE, as reported by Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. The details surrounding Blum’s departure are limited, but it was described as his own decision, with no indication of external pressure.

“Chief Operating Officer Brad Blum tendered his resignation on 5/1. We don’t know more details past this was his own decision, and nobody forced him out.”

Blum was considered one of the company’s key leaders, along with Nick Khan and Paul Levesque. Since joining WWE in 2006, Blum served in various critical strategic and operational roles, starting as Chief of Staff. Over the years, he expanded his responsibilities, ultimately overseeing multiple corporate functions such as Corporate Strategy, Marketing, IT & Technology, and others. Blum became Executive Vice President of Operations in 2019 and was promoted to Chief Operating Officer following WWE’s merger with Endeavor.

Blum’s career at WWE wasn’t without controversy. He was named in the Janel Grant lawsuit, which scrutinized his handling of hiring processes and internal transfers. The lawsuit implicated him in regard to his involvement in alleged misconduct within the company. With Blum’s resignation and the ongoing legal proceedings, it remains to be seen what the future holds for him and how WWE will navigate these challenges.
