WWE Top Star Quits For AEW After SmackDown?

Edge’s recent triumphant victory over Sheamus on SmackDown has generated considerable speculation about his future in professional wrestling, particularly with the possibility of him joining AEW.

After defeating Sheamus with two consecutive spears and celebrating his win, Edge addressed the fans in Toronto, indicating that he might not wrestle in his hometown again. This statement has fueled rumors about his potential departure from WWE and potential moves to other wrestling promotions, including AEW.

Several former WWE stars have transitioned to AEW after their tenure with the company ended, and Edge’s name has emerged as a significant candidate for such a move. The close relationship between Edge and Dax Harwood, along with the potential influence of his old friend Christian, who is already in AEW, have added to the speculation.

According to Ringside News, a member of the WWE creative team reportedly revealed that negotiations between Edge and WWE did not reach an agreement. This internal speculation has led to the belief that Edge might indeed make the move to AEW. While the timing of Edge’s contract expiration might not align with AEW’s All Out London event, it’s apparent that the notion of him joining AEW is still viable.

If Edge were to sign with AEW, he might need to adopt a new name due to WWE’s ownership of the moniker he has used for decades. His potential arrival in AEW would be a significant move and a major acquisition for the promotion, showcasing their ability to attract established and respected talent from the wrestling world.
