WWE Two Biggest Stars Gone At WrestleMania 39

Fans had been speculating that WWE Hall of Famer Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock would return at WrestleMania 39. WWE reportedly made Steve Austin a “huge money” offer for a match against undisputed WWE Universal champion Roman Reigns for Wrestlemania 39 and there was apparently a pitch for Austin to have a match against Brock Lesnar as well. However, they both seem to have rejected to compete in the ring.

Steve Austin and The Rock are unlikely to compete in the ring

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com noted the following about Austin’s status for the show…

“As far as Austin goes, he might be at the show. I wouldn’t be surprised at all. He might do something on the show but he did in fact turn down wrestling at the show. He was offered Lesnar, he was offered Roman Reigns. He probably could have named his opponent if he wanted to do it with anybody else but he did not choose to wrestle on the show.”

Meltzer also brought up The Rock turning down a Wrestlemania 39 match…

“The same goes for Dwayne [The Rock]. It’s not a swerve. There’s always the idea that it’s a secret but we’re past that point. Dwayne’s not wrestling anybody else unless it’s a three-second match. He did not feel that he had the time to get in the shape that he needed to be in to do a Wrestlemania-caliber main event.”
