Oscar De La Hoya was touted as one of the best boxers in the world when he was active. He retired back in 2008 but was set to come out of retirement in his boxing match against Vitor Belfort on September 11th, with Evander Holyfield replacing him. Unfortunately, Oscar de la Hoya contracted COVID-19 and was left hospitalized. Oscar de la Hoya also revealed the drug Mike Tyson used.

Oscar De La Hoya lost a very close 12 round split decision to Mayweather fourteen years ago in May 2007 in a fight that brought in 2.4 million pay-per-view buys, which was a record at the time. Days after making public the possibility of selling Golden Boy Promotions, De La Hoya took to Twitter and declared that he will be the first Hispanic athlete to become a billionaire.

“Mark my words, I will become the first Hispanic athlete to become a Billionaire. Congratulations Tiger, Lebron and Jordan.

Oscar De La Hoya also had beef with UFC President Dana White for a very long time, with White accusing Oscar of cocaine use. Dana said in 2020 about Oscar trying to return to fight, “Cocaine isn’t cheap. It’s expensive. You’ve got to make money.” Speaking with TMZ Sports, De La Hoya revealed that he wants to bury the hatchet with Dana White and finally end their beef.

“I want to fix things up with Dana… I criticized the UFC a bit, and I was wrong for it. Yeah, I would love to patch things up with Dana.”
