Former President Donald Trump recently lashed out at a group that he called Joe Biden’s “DC thugs” in a Truth Social rant. In addition to this, he labeled the current President a “threat to democracy.”
It has been noted in a post on Sunday night that the Republican hopeful who is campaigning for a second White House term while facing criminal charges in a hush money trial, shared his views on the indictment of Henry Cuellar.
Democratic Congressman Cuellar and his wife were recently charged with accepting around $600,000 (£478,000) in bribes, according to the justice department.
Taking to his Truth Social account, Trump shared his opinion on the situation saying: “Biden just indicted Henry Cuellar because the respected Democrat congressman wouldn’t play crooked Joe’s open border game. He was for border control, so they said, ‘Let’s use the FBI and DOJ to take him out!’
“This is the way they operate. They’re a bunch of DC thugs, and at some point they will be paying a very big price for what they have done to our country. CROOKED JOE BIDEN IS A THREAT TO DEMOCRACY!”
Cuellar and his wife are facing accusations of corruptly receiving money from an Azerbaijani government-owned oil company along with a Mexican bank, however, the Texas Democrat denied the charges in a statement. They appeared in court in Houston and were bailed afterwards.
Cuellar and his wife are each charged with multiple counts of conspiracy, bribery, wire fraud, money laundering and violating a ban on acting as agents of a foreign organisation. In a statement on Friday he said: “I want to be clear that both my wife and I are innocent of these allegations.”
