Celebrity scandals took center stage on Thursday during a Trump attorney’s cross-examination of Keith Davidson, the lawyer who represented adult film actress Stormy Daniels and former Playboy model Karen McDougal in the “catch and kill” scheme involving hush money payments.
Emil Bove, representing Donald Trump, sought to discredit Davidson’s credibility by insinuating that Davidson had a history of associating with people of questionable reputation and possibly engaging in extortion for celebrity gossip. However, Davidson consistently denied these accusations.

When Bove asked Davidson what “extortion” meant to him, Davidson replied, “It’s the obtaining of property by threat or fear or force.” The defense attorney then probed Davidson’s alleged involvement in various instances where he was implicated in obtaining money on behalf of third parties and suggested he may have violated extortion laws. Davidson rejected the notion.
Bove referenced various high-profile cases involving Davidson, including his alleged investigation by state and federal authorities over the extortion of Hulk Hogan in connection with Gawker’s publication of a sex tape in 2012. Bove also pointed out that Davidson represented someone who leaked information about actress Lindsay Lohan’s time in a rehab facility. Davidson stated he didn’t recall any of these incidents.
Bove continued questioning Davidson about other alleged deals involving celebrities, like a supposed sale of a sex tape featuring reality TV star Tila Tequila, which Davidson said he couldn’t recall. The attorney also brought up a case where Davidson represented clients who received payments from actor Charlie Sheen. Davidson confirmed he helped orchestrate a settlement involving a client named Karen Montgomery, but denied any form of extortion.
