Vince McMahon ‘No Longer Speaks’ To Family Member?

Former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon might not be on talking terms with his children, Shane and Stephanie. Their career began in the wrestling business as teenagers. Former WWE head writer Vince Russo, who worked in the late 1990s, recently disclosed details about the former authority figures’ relationships with their father.

It has been noted that Vince McMahon oversaw WWE’s creative direction between 1982 and 2022. The 78-year-old often made appearances in family-based storylines, particularly in the Attitude Era when he feuded with Shane, Stephanie, and his wife Linda.

Russo recently reviewed the Backlash 1999 event on the Two Man Power Trip of Wrestling Podcast. He recalled the storylines from that era and mentioned how Vince McMahon was stricter on Shane in real life compared to Stephanie.

“I saw it first-hand,” Russo said via TMPT Empire of Podcasts. “No matter what he [Shane McMahon] did, it was never good enough. It was never good enough. But, my God, Stephanie was the golden child. The relationship between Vince and those two was so dramatically different.”

In January, Vince McMahon decided to resign from WWE’s parent company TKO amid misconduct allegations. Stephanie McMahon returned at WrestleMania 40 in April, a year after her WWE exit coincided with her father’s return.

It was back in June 2022 that Vince McMahon entailed in a controversy due to allegations of misconduct after the revelation that he had secretly paid $3 million in hush money. It has been noted that this controversy escalated when McMahon was recently subjected to a sex trafficking lawsuit and it led him to file a motion to compel arbitration. This is a legal strategy targeted to resolve the matter outside of court, typically through a more private and controlled process.

Janel Grant, the plaintiff in the sex trafficking lawsuit, has taken action to challenge McMahon’s motion to compel arbitration.

On January 25th, Janel Grant, a former WWE staff member, filed a lawsuit against WWE, John Laurinaitis, and Vince McMahon, alleging sexual assault, emotional abuse, and sex trafficking incidents dating back to March 2019. This lawsuit feature some allegations against these prominent figures, casting a shadow over McMahon’s reputation and raising concerns about the workplace environment within WWE.
