Backstage News on John Cena vs. Ryback at WWE Payback, Possible Heel Turns, More

– As of this week, Ryback is not scheduled to win the WWE Title from John Cena at Sunday’s Payback pay-per-view. The whole idea behind the Three Stages of Hell match is that it will be used as a vehicle to get Cena over big for the summer.

– The Payback card was changed over the weekend. WWE announced Randy Orton and Daniel Bryan vs. Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns on RAW but as of last Saturday, the plan was to do a Bryan vs. Orton singles match.

At last word, Bryan is still scheduled to be part of the WWE Title picture in July and August of this year.

– On a related note, it’s possible we see two heels turns at Payback, one with Bryan and the other with Chris Jericho.

In the WWE’s defense, did we not all feel that Ryback wasn’t ready for a championship run?

  • Skip Becker

Still, I prefer the Jericho who is in a suit for promos and is deadly serious a majority of the time.

It’s not necessarily his fault. It’s the programming. The PG garbage limits everything from character development to character association. The whole WWE right now is cheesy. Until Cena is shot and or injured to the point he retires? It will stay this way. Watered down characters and butchered legends.

  • Skip Becker

Brian I wouldn’t understand. It’s like they don’t know what to do with him. Eventually they’ll turn Big E to a face and bring back Christian. I’d like to see a Christian v Jericho feud. Jericho isn’t all that over with me right now. I respect him, but I prefer him as a heal. He’s just cheesy right now. It worked when he was in his 20’s. I could buy that he was disrespectful and funny, now it seems forced.

what bryan just a heel with the whole “no,no,no,no” thing
i say you flip the script and have ryback win and become face because all he wanted was to win the belt and have cena go heel and on a monstrous heel rampage

  • Pewp

Ryback will be like Brodus Clay, jobbing to 3MB before too long.

I actually kind if feel bad for Ryback now.. built up and then fed to Cena, seems like that’s wwe new philosophy nowadays

  • chronoxiong

Orton needs to go heel. Not Bryan! No! No! No! No!

  • Scooter

If anyone in that match should turn heel it’s Orton. The Orton screws Bryan in his match against Cena leading to what should be a great match at Summerslam.

  • Kristopher Robinson

True, but what other faces are over as much as Jericho? Especially if Brian goes heel. Nobody is over like those 2 so it would be pointless.

  • Skip Becker

Jericho turns heal after the Chicago crowd doesn’t support him. I’m kind of tired of the face Jericho. He uses catchphrases like Mick Foley, but doesn’t acknowledge he’s doing it like Foley did.

  • ddfindl

Cena doesn’t need to get over. Bryan doesn’t need to turn heel. Jericho turning heel makes no sense.

    Get it together WWE

  • Kristopher Robinson

    HOw can Jericho turn heel?
How much more “over” can SuperCena get?
They’d be stupid not to give Rybscktue title IMO

  • Thomas Mendez

What? Why would they turn Bryan heel? He’s super-over right now and they’re not gonna capitalize on that? WWE can be so dumb sometimes.

  • Jeffrey Bolo Bolden

Im confused so let’s do something big to push the guy that is already being pushed down our throat instead of building up new talent. Yet they wonder why new talent doesnt get over with the fans. Not exactly a huge Ryback fan but him being champ would be unexpected and get him over and start new feuds. In the words of the Rock who’s booking this crap.
