Backstage News on Paul Heyman’s WWE Status and Ryback, Foley on the WWE Network?

– We’ve been covering how WWE will be filming one of Mick Foley’s upcoming comedy events in New York. Foley himself stated the special could end up on TV, Netflix or a similar outlet. Sources within WWE report that the special is being taped so WWE will have it on-hand for the Network when it launches.

– Plans last week called for the CM Punk vs. Paul Heyman feud to continue until December of this year but plans changed over the weekend and they ended the feud at Hell In a Cell. Heyman was backstage at Monday’s RAW but the impression was given that his alliance with Ryback is finished. We noted before that Ryback may be pulled from Heyman because of heat Ryback has from WWE officials. Heyman may not be back on WWE TV until Brock Lesnar returns.

They had a couple but the first one on Smackdown was particularly good.

I know what ya saying about 6-Man Tags and five other people – but he still played his role well and the matches were good. That’s all I meant 🙂

Even as a “human wrecking ball” he’s not half as good as Lesner, Goldberg, Batista, Vader, etc. Hell there are even better candidates on the roster right now (Big E., Roman Reigns).

I think it’s funny that Cena still gets “you can’t wrestle chants” even though he’s gotten “this is awesome” chants aswell. Ryback makes John Cena look like Shawn Michaels in the ring. And I know he’s not supposed to be a technician but he should at least be able to do the basics.

Yes he joined the main roster in june 2010, got injured in house show and missed 18months of action. This guy isnt supposed to be a master technition hes supposed to be a wrecking ball, unfortunately he’s been poorly booked since HIAC ’12 because Cena was injured. He destroyed IC champ the Miz and turn to Punk WWE champ in same night cause of injuries. He should have been left to take out Miz and win IC, feud with Ziggler, Cesaro, Swagger, Barret to put him into matches he had to work longer and couldnt be the wreck it ralph of WWE. He could of dropped the IC to Ziggler thanks to Big E and had the monster v monster brawl with him but with a new thinking machine of a Ryback. Then eventually as Ziggler took WHC have them restart feud rather than leave Del Rio to destroy its credability for so long.

I didn’t see that match with Bryan. And you can’t count 6 man tag matches were you can rely on the 5 other wrestlers to carry the load. I’m talking one-on-one matches.

  • Yes!3X

Yes I’m including his time as Skip Sheffield. Different character, same man. His first tv appearance was the Nexus debut in June of 2010. But if you count NXT as the main roster that it was Feb of 2010. Either way its been over 3 full years and he hasn’t gotten any better.

Ryback has had a few very good matches – one in particular was excellent. However, both of these were 6-Man-Tags against The Shield so his inefficiencies were hidden well by better performers during both these encounters. Plus he has a great match with Bryan (on Smackdown I believe) a few months back.

Ryback main roster since 2010? You sure on that one, or u including 2 months as Skip Sheffield in that. He (re)debuted as Ryback in 2012, just after ‘Mania i think

I’ll have to disagree with you there. Batista was certainly no ring general but with the right opponent he could have good matches. He had some pretty damn impressive bouts with the likes of Undertaker and Edge. Ryback on the other hand has been on the main roster since 2010 and the man has never had a good match. I’m not even sure he’s ever had a decent match. And its not like he hasn’t had talented opponents. He’s had PPV matches with both Jericho and Punk this year at 3 different shows and they all pretty much sucked. Ryback is a lost cause. If he wasn’t a roided up freak (which Vince loves) he’s be back in developmental.

Finally! After being given no less than 3 chances at a main event program (2 with Punk, 1 with Cena) Ryback is hopefully finally been given up on. He’s atrocious in the ring, his mic skills are cringe-worthy, and on top of that he seems to be really indignant and has an undeserved chip on his shoulder.

I’m not saying he should be fired but please WWE don’t allow him near the main event ever again. Give him a Great Khail/Vladimir Kozlov kind of spot where he mostly wrestles dark matches and jobs. That’s what he’s best suited for. If he couldn’t get over with Heyman as his mouthpiece and Punk as his opponent then he truly is hopeless.

Agree dumbest thing they did all year. He was so over as a face

  • Yo

I don’t see what the issue is with ryback he’s no worse than Batista the only difference is Batista was more over than he is they should have never turned him heel and took his feed me more gimmick away he would probably be over

  • CC

So Ryback sucks, we all know that, but if Heyman is pulled until Lesnar returns, where does that leave Curtis Axel? Seems to me all they need to do is pull Ryback from tv and give Heyman a few more worthy talent who need a decent push.

  • JohnCena33

Heyman should be pared with Barrett when he returns and then those two go after the world title and feud with Cena.

  • Rob ‘Richard Hammond’ Picken

When are WWE going to learn that no matter how hard they try Ryback just sucks! plain and simple, even the “Paul Heyman rub” clearly hasn’t worked.

    Give it up Vince

  • Elvis Dolinski

That sucks, Heyman was cutting some awesome promos, I hope the Mad Scientist comes back and kills it again
