Marty Wright, who portrayed The Boogeyman character in WWE from 2005 to 2009, addressed his wrestling career during an interview with Justin LaBar on Wrestling Reality on TribLIVE Radio sports station in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He said everyone in the sports entertainment organization was enjoyable to work with during his time there with the exception of one individual.

“Donald Trump, however, he wasn’t the best. Actually, let me rephrase that. He was the worst. He didn’t want to sell the character,” Wright says.

At WrestleMania 23 at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan, Trump was shown in a backstage segment sitting on a couch with Miss America when The Boogeyman appeared from behind. Wright says Trump didn’t think he should appear scared, and didn’t.

“I just wanted to bite his head off. He actually wasn’t the most favorable person to work with,” Wright says.

Wright also reveals that he solely ate worms due to host arenas’ fears of other insects getting loose.

“We had to pay an infestation clause, which would cost much more money,” says Wright, who wanted to use roaches, crickets and maggots for the gimmick. “Worms were the only thing we could control.”

Wright credits Vince McMahon with allowing him to direct character and notes that he would like to return to the company one day.

“I can’t say when, but just keep your eyes open. You never know when The Boogeyman is going to pop up again, but I’m definitely working toward that,” Wright says.

    Well said wellsy..

    @Devil_Rising

You’re complaining that people are voicing their opinion about your opinion. Do you not see the hypocrisy in that? Some people don’t agree with you. Live with it. Respect people’s freedom to voice their opinion about your post just like you want them to respect your freedom to voice your opinion about this article.

And don’t go down the spelling and grammar correcting route. It’s one of the clearest signs that someone can’t put up an argument so they’re trying to deflect attention. And if you are going to do it, make sure yours is perfect, as I don’t think “for voice my opinion” is the best English!

    @SYM

    1. Yes there was. I’ve been coming to this very site, easily, since the early 2000s, and there has been an “internet wrestling fan community”, so to speak, meaning sites people can go to and talk about wrestling, since the mid-90s.

    2. Quit fucking trolling. I’m not a “PEOPLE (it helps to know how to spell things) hater” just because I voice an opinion. I didn’t even say anything negative about Boogeyman. In fact I said he was entertaining to me UNTIL the worm eating shit started.

Oh dam, what a hater I am, right? Get real, if you don’t like what I have to say, don’t read it, much less waste everyone’s time responding to it.

@Wife Beater 3:16 there was no IWC when he debuted. It was just ppl hating, like urself and Devil_Rising.

  • Devil_Rising

Classic. I get told to shut up by some clown named Banjo, and get a bunch of negative votes for voice my opinion.

Gotta love faceless internet message boards.

  • Dominic

I really enjoyed the Boogeyman character..he offered something different and unique! He is not the best wrestler in the world but I enjoyed the majority of his segments and matches during his time in WWE.

When he said “I can’t say when, but just keep your eyes open. You never know when The Boogeyman is going to pop up again, but I’m definitely working toward that,” I think he is pointing out his in-ring wrestling ability, so hopefully he does make it back to the big time again! :) I for one would love to see him crawl out from the mist and smash that clock over his head!! :D

  • Shawn

The Boogeyman was a great character. WWE needs to bring him back to Smackdown. Maybe he can team with Seven! That would be crazy!

  • Wife Beater 3:16

You guys really miss the Boogeyman & Hornswoggle segments?

The same IWC that hated his gimmick when he debuted.

    So fickle.

  • Banjo

    shut up devil_rising

  • N

Would be nice to ask him how worms taste, haha!

  • Devil_Rising

He was never a terribly great wrestler, but his CHARACTER was great, UNTIL the point that the worms came about. That was just disgusting, and totally ruined what was otherwise a classic gimmick character for me.

  • Jon-Jon

The guy literally wanted to eat multiple insects so he could live his dream. Props.

  • Pissed Off Fan =(

He would have been perfect during the Heath Slater vs legends storyline

  • voice of reason

i really liked the boogeyman charecter i hope he comes back one day.

  • SYM

He ate F***in worms for a Job in WWE. Mad respect to the Boogeyman.

  • chronoxiong
