- Below are highlights from Brock Lesnar’ recent interview with latimes.com

On Leaving the UFC Too Soon: “You’ve always got that part in your mind,” Lesnar said. “I do miss it, but I’ve got to keep myself in check. What I went through the last few years was quite traumatic, not being able to fight like I wanted. I got back on the horse way too soon. Coulda, shoulda, woulda. That chapter in my life has come to closure, and I’m comfortable with it.”

On His UFC Run Giving Him Leverage With WWE: “I’m at a different stage in my life where … I think I’ve earned all that,” he said. “That was the only way I could make this happen. They [WWE] played ball and hopefully it’s a win-win for both of us. I really do enjoy putting on a show. I left originally because I was a caged animal 300 days a year on the road and they knew that. That was the bottom line — I don’t want to be that person.”

I think we can all agree that paying lesnar 5 million a year for 3 matches is ridiculous and unfair.

Go buy a ticket, floob. There have been MANY fighters in the UFC who received unearned title shots, including from a loss.

J-Smooth is also wrong. Brock was given a match with Heath Herring and the winner getting a shot at Randy. Brock wrecked Herring. His great performance against Mir, and his victory against a peaked Herring is why Brock got the title shot.

Meanwhile, when Randy was on hiatus from contract disputes (he wanted more money, and to fight Fedor, a fighter not in the UFC who the UFC tried/failed to sign), Randy sat out and an interim Heavyweight Championship was created and won by Big Nog.

Randy/Nog was the fight people “wanted” however, instead Brock and Frank were paired up against them. Frank was just coming back from a terrible accident (motorcycle) and his victory over Brock propelled him into his bout with Nog.

Brock beat Randy, then rematched Mir to unite the belt Nog had while Randy sat out and the one Brock won from Randy. Brock beat Mir in his last great performance. He and Carwin were scheduled to fight each other twice; however

Brock came down with his illness and was never the same again. Carwin had knee surgery before facing (and defeating) Frank Mir for an Interim Championship; Brock returned and survived a beating and becoming the undisputed champion.

Brock proved to have a good chin (he wasn’t TKO’d) but terrible reactions to getting facepunched (Fetal Position). He also proved mediocre striking (lack of training time in the hospital) despite deadly blows he landed (His vintage knockdowns of Frank 1, Herring, and Randy shown power even if not great striking). Look at Overeem and Cain after their fights; Personally, I didn’t see Brock hit them with more than a “Fly Swat” however he brused ‘em up good with it.

That’s the sane thing as failing in the nfl then going to wwe ill give u 2 wrestlers with tons of success that this has happened to and then tell me if u still feel the same Goldberg and The Rock. Goldberg use to play for Atlanta. The rock had a tryout with New England both got injured then approached by recruiters saying hey u can make this much money and its a lot less taxing on the body than football

Exactly. And does the WWE really think he’ll bring UFC fans to tune in?! Lesnar is not going to bring them anything unless he works more IMO. It’s a joke that this is what $5 million is getting the WWE.

I’ll do you one better. Who gets pushed to the moon as THE new top guy, and then walks away, tries and fails to play in the NFL, and then gets into MMA? He doesn’t deserve to work in the WWE.

He’s a money hungry douche bag. He hasn’t deserved anything he’s gotten IMO. Who loses a fight then gets a title shot?
