Allow me to play devil’s advocate and explore why you feel this way, to gain an understanding here. You say that whites have been in chains just as long, but for what? Committing crimes, or becoming property to another human?

Also, you stated that proud, heterosexual individuals are under criticism. Elaborate on this more, if you will. What criticism are you referring to?

And you’re not looking at the history of it, either. Whites have been in chains just as long, if not longer, than anyone darker than us. By not only the hand of each other but the hand of foreigners. It has been that way for centuries. You’re comparing a hundred or so years of slavery in the United States to slavery all over the globe that has taken place for literally thousands of years.
The difference between you and I is, just by reading your post, is you’re self-righteous. Everything you just said screamed blatant narcisism. I’m a psychology major. Psychoanalysis is something I’m good at. I’m not afraid to stand up for my race of my culture or those that are straight. If you want to be gay? It’s your house. Do what you want. But I see people criticized needlessly for declaring themselves as straight and proud and, yes, it pisses me off.
So before you come here recycling something you’ve read from another website or heard on the news, consider what you’re typing. You’re trying desperately to twist my words to make yourself look the part of some verbal hero on the wrestling forums. Lol. Just… just stop. I can’t argue with a child, I can’t argue with you.

Comments like this disregard the history behind the things you’re bitching about. There is no major history of “racism against whites” in America, because in the decades/centuries past, it has been a “white majority” being racist against non-white American citizens, dating all the way back to colonists “hating on” the Natives they just stole their land from. And homophobia is as alive and well as it ever was, even IF being gay is becoming “more accepted” by the mainstream.

You have to actually think about things before you say them. Saying you’re “straight and proud” means nothing. Why would you be proud of that? Congrats, you’re just like 90%+ of the planet. Saying you’re “gay and proud” is not the kind of statement you think it is….it’s saying that you’re openly letting it be known that you are, and that you’re not afraid of what others think of it. Not quite the same, is it? Saying you’re “white and proud”, equally pointless. Fact is, most people who used that statment, ARE white supremecist racists. Saying you’re Irish and proud, Italian and proud, French and proud, etc? Big difference. It’s harder for black Americans to trace their roots, because of the whole slavery thing and all, so saying they’re “black and proud” is about as close as most of them can come. Most “white” Americans have some sense of family history, what they are and where their people originated from. Again, big difference.

So you can be pissed off all you want. But I’m not really quite sure what you’re being denied that’s making you so mad. It’s kind of obvious by your statement that you don’t seem to like gays, and you seem to think somehow you’re the “persecuted majority”, being white and straight. Again….you have to actually put everything in perspective before you decide that you’re mad over nothing.

    Why should it change anything?

Neill Patrick Harris is gay but you believe 120% that Barney
Stinson is the biggest playboy lover of women around. Darren Young is a
wrestler, a character on a wrestling show. He can still be a PTP. WWE
can acknowledge it on their website & be a star things as much as
they want, maybe even make a passing reference to it on Raw during one
of his matches. But that should be the end of it. Anything else will
just be a desperate cash grab/pr exercise by the WWE.
If they’re so desperate to sow people that there’s nothing wrong with
being gay & he shouldn’t be treated any differently, then don’t
treat hm differently. Keep letting him be Darren Young of the Prime Time
Players. That would be the most positive message that the WWE could show to the world…

Just because he’s gay doesn’t mean he’s got to be all campy! I’d hate it if they destroyed him like that.

The Zeb Coulter thing is a good idea. But if they start making him all Rico, it won’t do anything for how people see gay people. They’re not all fruity.

I wonder what the Warrior thinks of all this…!

We will have to wait and see…

I see what you’re saying, by I for one hope they don’t try to capitalize on this and make his character revolve around his sexuality because it will turn some people off and people will get sick of it and be like, “okay, we get it, you’re gay”.

  • Kristopher Robinson

I respect him more for that and it does have “gimmick” potential. Someone like Zeb Coulter can come out, complaining about “normalization of social perversion” and sick Swagger against him, letting Titus make the save turning PTP face and feuding them with “We The People” could give both teams a little needed push and some interesting matches.

They could also have Bray Wyatt give his “Kiss Goodbye” and have Darren “kiss him back” or same with Fandango’s “dance pose” swinging neckbreaker move. Not to be a “Goldust” about it, but to humorize it.

And yes, he could even do a gimmick based on “I am STILL a man, a manly man!!” and have his character go through a conflict where 1-2 guys like Ryback think he is “not manly” and he “proves it”, beating him. This has potential to be good for the company.

  • Ray Myer

People can do what they want, I suppose. But it’s the hypocrisy that comes with it that pisses me off. If I say I’m white and proud, I’m a racist. If I say I’m straight and proud, I’m a homophode. It’s like.. freedom of speech as long as -you- agree with it but if I disagree? I’m labeled as a hater.

  • The Killswitch

How so? Vince didn’t have a problem with this news breaking the front page of the WWE website, or with the interview with TMZ. Maybe it signals a face turn for PTP. But if they’re breaking the team up, more power to them both. Especially Titus.

Respect him for having the guts… but, seriously now?
The Primetime Players are dead from now on in Vince s eyes

I think if anything, people will respect him as an athlete, and as a strong individual (in a physical sense or a personal sense).
