– Spinal stenosis, which has ended Edge’s career, is usually genetic and is what sped up the end of Steve Austin’s career. The condition is something a lot of people have but usually don’t have troubles from it until they are in their 70’s.
Odds are that as Austin and Edge get older, their problems will worsen but by getting away from in-ring action, they will able to ward those problems off. The risk of paralysis is greater with taking a bad bump in the ring and any type of consistent in-ring action would speed up the health problems and greatly decrease qualify of life.
It’s safe to say that like Austin, Edge will be staying away from the ring for the most part.
– In an interesting trivia note, the Christian vs. Alberto Del Rio Ladder Match at WWE’s Extreme Rules pay-per-view is believed to be only the second time in company history where a match guarantees that someone will become World Champion for the first time.
Usually there is a defending champion and when there isn’t, usually one of the contenders going for the vacant title have been champion before. The other match would be from March 27th, 1988 when Randy Savage beat Ted DiBiase in the title tournament finals at WrestleMania 4.
