Lex Luger Says He Would Be Honored To Be Inducted Into The WWE Hall of Fame

During a recent public appearance, Lex Luger was asked what being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame would mean to him.

“It would just be a tremendous honor if someday I was inducted in the Hall of Fame, but really, we’re here to get down to glory to God now with our lives and serve others and use open vessels for him to bring people to Christ,” says Luger, who in 2006 declared himself a born again Christian.

Lex continues, “But, would that be an honor? It’s something that would also help to use as a platform to continue ministry as well. It would be wonderful, definitely.” reported last week that Luger not being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame this year as part of the Horsemen clan stems from the events surrounding Miss Elizabeth’s death, which occurred on May 1, 2003 in the home they shared. Her cause of death, according to the coroner’s report, was “acute toxicity” brought on by a buffet of prescription painkillers and vodka. Many people in WWE blame Luger for her tragic death as he’s seen as her enabler. Luger himself has admitted to being a negative influence on her life.

“I take a lot of responsibility for that—my influence in her life,” he told in 2007 regarding his heavy drug abuse, which rubbed off on her during their relationship. “Her little heart and body couldn’t take what I was doing.”

WWE DID have big plans for Luger. Anyone remember the whole deal slamming Yokozuna on the Intrepid, and touring the country in the Lex Express? Shortly after, Luger went to WCW for big $. At least Bret paid his dues in the WWE, in the tag ranks, then the IC stint before he became figurehead of the company. What, is Luger supposed to walz in because he had notoriety with the Horsemen, flex in front of a mirror a little, and have a title on his waist right away? Sure, he played a heel a while, they flipped him to babyface in MONUMENTAL fashion, then, correct me if I am wrong, got injured and that’s when they put him on that whole bus tour thing. But, when it came down to brass tacks, he did what many others back in the 90’s did, and jumped ship for a bigger payout.

That’s funny if it is true ! Even tho he was in smackdown vs raw

So the truth is out, Luger is using Christianity as a crutch for his “forgiveness” from Elizabeths death. Nothing like being “born again” out of guilt.

I never knew about the Elizibeth story. Man, religion certainly has helped a lot of guys in the business. HBK, Luger, Sting(never had problems, but still, good for him), etc. If only guys like the Hardys & Scott Hall would take notice, then maybe they won’t experience the kind of thing Lex did.

Well I’m glad to see he’s man enough to admit his faults. It’s gotta be something difficult to live with. I’m sure his time in the HoF will come but hopefully he’ll still be here on Earth to see that happen.

I do think Lex will go in at some point not as a headliner but he will the fact that he acknowledges his faults and is willing to pay for the consequences speak a lot about his character

Koko B. Ware at least had a gimmick. Luger is boring as hell. Koko is way better than Luger. Don’t you guys even dare think about comparing Koko and a murderer.

i dont think luger is totally deserving myself…but they did induct fucking koko b ware and i’m still waiting for that list of reasons…so why the hell not give lex his spot

I do think that Luger deserves HoF one day for his time in WCW, but I do not think WWE is keeping him from getting in nor do I think that he deserves it at this time. There’s several guys that deserve to be inducted before Luger, and I cannot for the life me figure out why KoKo B. Ware is in the HoF. He actually said, “It should have happened sooner” after it was announced he was being inducted. That’s the biggest HoF induction head scratcher. I really do not understand why KoKo is in the HoF……

I think Luger is a great comeback story, if you ask me. He has obviously overcome several major obstacles in life in last 10 years.

He never reached superstardom in WWE, but he did have several title runs in WCW, and was a top guy there. So you can’t just look at his time in WWE. After all, Koko B. Ware is in the hall of fame, and he was never a champion.

Luger was boring. He is a born again christian because of Elizabeth’s death. He pretty much killed her, and now all he can do is pray.

I am not trying to be a dick, but what was so great about Lex Luger? He lacked charisma, and he was an average wrestler. His WWE run was mediocre at best. Sting/Luger were a pretty good tag team, but I would never consider Luger among the best in the business or even great.

I would like to see Luger in the HOF, but I doubt that will ever happen, just like Beniot.

I had no idea there was a resistance within WWE in inducting Luger because of Elizabeth’s death. I truly hope they forgive him at some point because he was one of the best. Apparently, he is also well-liked, despite the controversy. In addition, the guy got his ass handed to him by paralysis and years of rehab. Give him the benefit of the doubt, for Pete’s sake.

I’d love to see him appear on WWE TV again.
