Maryse Ouellet Critical Of WWE’s Diva Handling, Lilian Garcia Addresses Shoe Mishap

— Former WWE talent Maryse Ouellet was critical of WWE creative’s handling of the Divas division during a recent interview with Running The Ropes. When asked how the division has changed since her debut with the company five years ago, she responded, “You know it’s changed from what it was in 2007 when it had twelve minute pay-per-view matches now to thirty second (matches). It’s hard to make a crowd relate to you when you can’t talk on the microphone, you have only a minute in the ring and you have ten divas in the ring at the same time so you can’t build a character and you can’t make people relate. It’s impossible to get over.”

She continues, “I just wish the girls were given more time to work because there is potential, but there’s no time. They need to give them something so they (WWE) can receive something and if they don’t, they will never get anything.”

The former two-time Divas Champion also discusses her release from WWE, House of Maryse, an online report that she was “too sexy” for PG WWE, her role on NXT, her famous hand gesture and more. The audio interview is available here (beginning at the 1:19:00 mark.

— SmackDown ring announcer Lilian Garcia had a wardrobe mishap at Tuesday’s SmackDown taping in Columbus, Ohio as the strap of her shoe broke while she made her ring entrance. Regarding the mishap, she wrote on Twitter, “Hilarious moment and a first! My shoe strap broke during my entrance to @WWE SD tonight so I ran down barefoot! Fixed shoe with tape!!”

If they are not going to use the women as real wrestlers, they might as well just put em in bra and panties and paddles and mud matches again. C’mon WWE. Use them correctly or get rid of them.

to sexy for pg? How dumb is that

WWE Divas are nothing more than eye candy nowadays. Not that any men are complaining. Keep it up, WWE Creative. It’s not like they can actually do any basic maneuvers anyway (no smarks, Kelly Kelly’s flippy doo finisher doesn’t count as a maneuver.)

She’s absolutely right. They might as well not even have a Diva’s division if they’re not going to use them as wrestlers. 30-second matches are a waste of everyone’s time. The audience will never mesh with the characters if they aren’t given a chance to know the characters, and you cannot tell a story in 30 seconds.

Seriously, they might as well just go back to the days when women were just arm candy and “managers”. It’s a shame, as a I think a good women’s match is a nice break between men’s matches, but the whole division is just superfluous at this point.

Diva matches are pathetic. they make time for very long and annoying WWE promotional shit or recaps they show before commercial breaks. its barely wrestling nowadays on networks.

Every Diva, released or currently employed, can agree with what Maryse is saying. Gail Kim said the same thing. Instead of them actually wrestling and cutting promos, they’ve been reduced to farting and kissing John Cena’s duck mouth. I just wish the WWE would go back to the glory days of both the Divas division and the Tag Team division.
