Nick’s Quick Wits-Who Must Win The Royal Rumble?

It’s almost time for the annual Royal Rumble pay-per-view, headlined by the royal rumble match. You know the drill, the winner goes to the main event of WrestleMania with a shot at the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. The two favors are obviously Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan, the other 28 don’t really have a chance, sorry guys.

2015 Royal Rumble

Roman Reigns has been rumored to win this years match since his record breaking performance last year eliminating 12 superstars. He’s the guy that the machine has been pushing to be star of the future. He’s big, strong, young, and comes from a wrestling family. Reigns is over with the crowd, but he doesn’t have much experience as a singles competitor. That’s mainly because he was injured at missed three months of action recently. He returned at TLC and announced his participation in the royal rumble match. He was the favorite at the time and everyone is expecting him to win at the moment.

Two weeks later, and interesting curve ball was thrown. Daniel Bryan returned and announced that he has been cleared to return, and will also be in the royal rumble match. The crowd loved it. There were times when it looked like Bryan may never wrestle again, and for this to happen is such a feel good moment. He never lost the WWE World Heavyweight Championship and returned just as over as before, perhaps even moreso. Now, the question remains, which one of them must win the rumble, and I’ll explain who and why.

Daniel Bryan MUST win the royal rumble match. I’m not saying this as a Bryan mark, even though I’ll gladly admit I am one, I’m saying this from an objective standpoint. Bryan is still the guy the fans are behind the most. He’s still more over than the entire roster, including Reigns, and never got the proper run he, and his fans, deserve.  I just don’t believe Roman is quite ready yet.  I don’t mind him, but a little more experience as a single competitors mixed with more time to improve his mic skills wouldn’t hurt.  If you rush him into the main event of WrestleMania, especially at the expense of Daniel Bryan, you could have a repeat of last year’s reaction to Batista’s win.  That’s the last thing the WWE needs, it would cause long-term damage to Reigns.  We don’t know how much time Bryan could have left, neck injuries are no joke, so if you don’t finally give him the proper run he deserves, you may never get the chance.

Bryan must win this year, Reigns can’t wait until next year.

Until next time, don’t rush the future when the present still needs more time in the spotlight,

-Nick
