Will Orton Cash In at SummerSlam?, Backstage News on Plans for the WWE Title, Cena-Bryan

– Word going around WWE is that the current plan for SummerSlam has Daniel Bryan defeating John Cena for the WWE Title, only to see Randy Orton cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase, take the WWE Title and finally make his long-awaited heel turn.

It’s possible WWE announces the Randy Orton neck injury on RAW and keep him off TV for a few weeks, that way his cash in at SummerSlam will be more of a surprise.

Another sign that Orton will be cashing in at SummerSlam is that as of this week, there is no Bryan vs. Cena rematch planned for September’s Night of Champions pay-per-view.

I get that it’ll never happen. And Orton isn’t the #2 guy behind Cena, but that’s another converstation. I’d just like to see Bryan beat Cena clean and get a title run. That is plenty realistic, and not too much to ask. Orton can cash later on, and I’d be fine with it. Just don’t like the timing of the current plan.

The idea he should beat the top 2 guys in the company one after the other is ridiculous though. If you can’t see that you’ll never understand how booking works.

I’m not a Bryan mark, I just wanna see a guy who actually deserves a title run get one. If Orton cashes on him, Bryan isn’t getting a title run. They won’t immediately take the title back off Orton. Bryan losing the title to Orton won’t make him a bigger star at all. Him cleanly beating Cena and getting a subsequent title run would make him a bigger star. If he beats a cashing Orton, he’d be even bigger. Orton needs a heel turn, but he doesn’t need an immediate title run. He can cash later on against Bryan if need be. I’d just rather not see it happen immediately after he beats Cena. We all saw what happened with Christian.

  • What a GREAT plan. Because we’ve NEVER seen fucking Orton as champ before. And his matches AREN’T boring as all hell.

I would rather see a proper run with the WWE Title then that.

I’ve been saying this for a while although I actually never said he should wrestle for the title, I said the McMahons should be screwing him given the route their going that seems entirely possible. Anyway the blowoff would be Bryan vs HHH at Mania although I do like your idea of him wrestling for the belt as well.

  • Scooter

It would be a better plan? Nah you’re just a mark for Bryan and if they did that people would get sick of his godlike booking. Clearly you have no idea if you think having one guy go over your new top heel whilst he’s fresh and the guy wrestling him has just had the fight of his life. If anything losing the belt makes Bryan a bigger star because realisticly he’s the only one who can beat Orton after Cena loses.

  • Prince

Wanting it to happen and believing it will happen are two different things. That would be the better plan, but we all know the WWE isn’t very smart when it comes to booking. That would be very bold, and really work. But they wouldn’t have the balls to do it.

I like all the bitching this is nothing like the Christian deal Bryan is beating Cena of all people for the belt then getting screwed over. Totally different deal to Christian losing CLEAN to Orton and if anything it’ll keep Cena out the main events for a while because Bryan will be feuding with Orton for the belt or if he doesn’t get his rematch straight away he looks like a huge deal because he’s “the man who beat John Cena.” So where Cena failed to beat Orton people believe Bryan can.

  • Scooter

You and the 14 people who liked that are being ridiculously unrealistic.

  • Mabry

Great, WWE is going to do pretty much what they did to Christian… Hope am wrong, but it seems like D.Bryan´s popularity and talent are goingo to be over looked!!!…

  • Mike Wells

I’d rather Daniel Bryan win his first WWE title at WMXXX (via winning the RR) and spend the next six months getting screwed. Would be so much better.

Orton should screw both men by interfering in the match at the end, causing a double DQ, then cashing in on a hurt Cena.

  • Prince

The better plan would be Bryan winning the title, Orton cashing, and Bryan also beating him. That way Orton is still heel, and Bryan is the champion. Bryan would also be ridiculously over.
