– Strikeforce Women’s Champion Cris Cyborg had the following to say to MMA Fanhouse about her big win over Gina Carano this weekend:
“I’m very happy! I was ready to face the five rounds, I was ready to face the crowd, I was ready to face Gina — I was ready for everything. I prefer Muay Thai but if I need to go to the ground then I’ll go to the ground. Whoever Scott Coker puts in [the cage] to face me, I’ll face, but if Gina wants a rematch, she can have a rematch — no problem at all. I think [the stoppage] was right. The judge’s showed a little sign that said 4:59 seconds and I think the stoppage was good for Gina’s health.”
– And from MMA Weekly, Randy Couture spoke on the Cyborg-Carano fight. Couture trained with Carano. Here’s what he had to say:
“I think she had some opportunities to win. It was an amazing five minutes. They made a lot of transitions, a lot of positions, and I think Gina caught Cyborg with some shots that got her attention, and obviously Gina got overwhelmed on a couple of occasions, but I think overall, she did some great things. This is a new experience for her, and it’s an important one, and I expect she’s going to come out the other side a stronger and better athlete for what she’s going through right now.”
