Former President Donald Trump has denied allegations, Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) is not believing the former president when he shots down having physical intimacy with former Adult film star Stormy Daniels via Mediaite.
It has been noted that Trump is on trial for falsifying business records to conceal hush money payments he allegedly made to Daniels and former Playboy model Karen McDougal, both of whom he allegedly had affairs with ahead of the 2016 presidential election. The former president has pleaded not guilty to 34 felony counts.
“I think everybody has made their own assessment of President Trump’s character,” Romney told CNN’s Manu Raju outside the Capitol on Tuesday. “And so far as I know, you don’t pay someone $130,000 not to have sex with you.”
It seems that though Romney is a longtime Trump critic, the comment was a sharp missive from the typically buttoned-up senator. The response amused CNN’s Brianna Keilar and Boris Sanchez back in the studio.
“Wow, that was Republican Senator Mitt Romney, uh, what a soundbite,” Keilar said.
“The former president’s longtime friend and former National Enquirer publisher, David Pecker, returned to the stand and detailed how he killed the stories as part of a highly confidential agreement with Trump, made it all the way back in 2015 when he announced his first presidential run,” Sanchez noted.
Trump has denied all wrongdoing and alleges that the case against him is a politically motivated “witch hunt,” along with the other three criminal cases against him.
