SmackDown to remain 2 hours long on Fox

There has been a lot of speculation about SmackDown’s move to Fox later this year and probably the biggest rumor has been the show possibly moving to three hours.

However, this rumor was killed recently when Fox unveiled their schedule for the rest of the year during the upfronts and it confirmed that the show will only be running from 8 to 10 PM eastern.

During the event, the Fox Entertainment CEO Charlie Collier was also asked if SmackDown is an island which is industry term for shows only watched by dedicated fans who won’t be watching other programs on the Network and replying to it, he said that he doesn’t think it’s an island:

“If it’s an island, it’s an island I would want to go to and spend some time. I don’t think it’s an island. I think it’s another great promotional vehicle for us, for our other nights. It’s a unique asset.”

Though it would be interesting to see if the recent rating decline affects the relationship between WWE and Fox in near future and how it affects the programming of the Blue Branded Show.
