TNA Impact Wrestling Report – 3/6/14

We start off looking at last week when Dixie Carter offered Bobby Roode 10% of Impact Wrestling if he led her Lethal Lockdown team to victory, and then Austin Aries suckerpunching MVP to help Roode beat him. We go to the ring as we see a clip of the Bromans regaining the TNA World Tag Team Title in Tokyo earlier this week, and then Roode gloats about how he’s about to become a part owner of the company. Austin Aries comes out and tells Roode not to get ahead of himself because he wants to talk business right here and now. If Roode wants to make it official, Aries wants half of Roode’s 10%. Robbie E says wait a minute bro (Aries tells him he’s not his bro), because the Bromans are going to be the deciding factor in this match. Roode says that if everyone wants a piece of pie, they need to remember that he came to them, he’s the captain, and he calls the shots. Roode says the first priority is winning Lethal Lockdown, and Aries says not to worry about that because he’s a game changer, and there isn’t a person on this roster who measures up to him and can help MVP at Lockdown.

MVP comes out to the ring with the Wolves in tow, and he admits he made a mistake trusting Austin Aries, but with control of TNA on the line, he had to do some digging to come up with another partner. He’s made his decision, but before he can reveal who that is, Dixie Carter comes out to the ring and tells him his decision won’t matter. She doesn’t care who the fourth member of his team is because she spent all week in New York securing the win for Team Dixie. MVP doesn’t know her very well, but if he asked someone who does (and loves her), they’ll tell him that TNA means more to her than anything in the world, and she’ll stop at nothing to maintain control of it. MVP asks if Dixie at least wants to know who his partner is, but she says unless he can part the Red Sea, she doesn’t care. MVP says it’s a former a World Champion and a good friend of his and asks if she wants to know now, and Dixie says to go ahead and tell her. MVP obliges and says that the fourth partner is Jeff Hardy. Dixie says that’s not happening because he’s under a TNA contract that she suspended when he walked out on her. MVP says that when he gains control of TNA at Lockdown, he’ll reinstate Hardy and put him on that team. (?)

Roode tells MVP that it doesn’t matter who his partner is, because in ten days at Lockdown, he’ll be 10% owner of the company. A big brawl breaks out as we go to commercial.

Elimination Match: MVP & The Wolves vs Bobby Roode, Robbie E & Austin Aries

Eddie Edwards is caught in the wrong part of town and gets worked over one by one by the members of Roode’s team. Eddie finally makes the tag and MVP comes in to clean house on Robbie. He catches Robbie with the bicycle kick and covers him for 3.

Robbie E is eliminated.

Now Roode is in and he tries to get the jump on MVP, but MVP quickly regains control and now traps Roode in his corner. Eddie avoids the IED and hits Roode with a leaping enziguiri, but Aries catches him with a second IED attempt as he tries to give Roode the backpack driver, and he quickly follows up with a brainbuster for 3.

Eddie Edwards is eliminated.

Now Davey Richards is in, and two of the most diminant ROH World Champions of all time go at it until Davey drills Aries with the handspring enziguiri, and Aries comes right back to knock Davey out with a roaring elbow. They both tag out and MVP and Roode go at it again, trading heavy shots until MVP flattens Roode with a roaring clothesline. Aries just barely breaks up MVP’s cover at 2.9999, then he distracts MVP long enough to allow Roode to roll MVP up with his feet on the ropes for another elimination.

MVP is eliminated.

Now Davey Richards is on his own again the two former TNA World Champions, and he quickly finds himself on the receiving end of a 2-on-1 beating. Roode hits a side backbreaker for 2, then he dumps Davey out to the floor where Aries nails him with a double axhandle from the top rope. Aries rolls Davey inside and Roode covers him for 2, then Roode and Aries hit the catapult into the springboard twisting elbow. Davey grabs the ropes to break the cover at 2, then he tosses Aries into Roode and dropkicks Roode to make him DDT Aries. I always thought that move looked ridiculous. Davey drils Roode with a charging kneestrike in the corner and goes for the top rope double stomp, Roode rolls out of the way, but Davey rolls through and catches Roode in a half crab. Aries comes in and bashes Davey with a chair to break the hold, getting himself disqualified in the process.

Austin Aries has been eliminated.

Aries continues battering Davey with the chair, specifically targeting the shoulder. Eddie Edwards and some referees run out to check on Davey as Roode yells at the referee to let the match continue. MVP comes in as well as Roode steps out to the floor, and we’ll find out what’s going to happen after this commercial break.

We come back and, during the break, Davey Richards was taken to the back with his shoulder wrapped for medical attention. We see Davey in the trainer’s room as his partners try to find out how bad the injury is, and Earl Hebner says he knows how important the match is and that the best he can do is suspend the match for an hour. If Davey’s not ready, the advantage in Lethal Lockdown will go to Roode’s team. I guess then for now the decision is…

MATCH TEMPORARILY SUSPENDED

Mike Tenay announces that Samuel Shaw will face Ken Anderson at Lockdown, and then we see a video package looking at the history of the Shaw-Anderson-Christy Hemme angle. We then go to Shaw backstage, and he says that Hemme created something beautiful when she slapped him in the face, and he’ll create something even more beautiful when he goes to the ring in ONE MINUTE. Commercial time.

Samuel Shaw vs Eric Young

Christy Hemme is not at ringside, and Samuel looked resolute as he walked past her empty chair with his cup of tea in hand. Ken Anderson comes out before the match and says that Christy Hemme will not be here tonight because of that freakin’ guy (indicating Shaw), but says that playing the part of Christy Hemme will be MISTERRRRRRRRRRRRRRR AAAAAAAAAAAAANDERSOOOOOOOOOOOOON….ANDERSON. He introduces Shaw as Creepy Bastard, then introduces his opponent, the man whose beard alone weighs two and a half tons, Eric Young!

Young rolls Shaw up for 2 right off the bat, then takes him to the corner and goes up for the ten punch count. Shaw just smiles at Young and jabs him in the throat, then chokes him in the corner as the crowd chants CREEPY BASTARD at him. Young fires back and nails Shaw with a flying forearm before planting him with a belly to belly suplex for 2. Shaw goes out to the floor and throws his tea in Young’s face, then rams Young into Anderson and catches him in the head and arm choke he put Anderson out with last week. The bell rings, so I guess we’ll call it…

NO CONTEST

Anderson struggles, but Shaw hangs on and puts Anderson out cold. Shaw gets a microphone and stands over Anderson to say that now he’ll go get what is rightfully his. We get a shot of Christy backstage looking really scared as Shaw heads to the back.

We go back to the trainer’s room as MVP tells Davey to just stay where he is. Davey says he needs to go to the hospital, but MVP says he picked the Wolves because they’re two of the toughest wrestlers in the world.

We come back from commercial as MVP bursts into Austin Aries’ dressing room and asks him how he’s going to do him like that after he trusted him, and when Aries doesn’t give him a good answer, MVP says Aries has no character.

We see a video package looking at the recent history between Kurt Angle and Ethan Carter III, then we go to Dixie Carter telling her nephew to take Kurt Angle out this weekend. Ethan says he did a number on Angle’s leg, and Dixie says to go after that because he’s a Carter. Dixie then says she’s spent years building this company, and MVP is going to rue the day he invested in this company. Ethan tells Dixie how smart she is.

Samuel Shaw is poking around backstage looking for Christy, calling out her name as he searches every nook and cranny.

We come back from commercial and Samuel Shaw is still poking around backstage and goes into hte Knockouts locker room as Velvet Sky, in her bra, covers up and tells Shaw he can’t go in there. Shaw asks her where Christy is, and asks again when she doesn’t answer him. She finally says the makeup room, and Shaw thanks her and leaves.

Ethan Carter III comes out to the ring to rave about Kurt Angle suckerpunching him last week, then says he idolized Kurt growing up, but learned not to meet your heroes because they’ll suckerpunch you in the face. Angle is looking forward to facing Carter in the cage because he can use the cage as a weapon since he’s afraid of Carter’s submission wrestling. But Carter has something bigger: he has a leglock that he’s going to use to tear every muscle in Angle’s legs. Carter has beaten every challeng thrown in his way since coming to TNA: he beat Sting and became the new icon of wrestling, and at Lockdown, he’s going to beat Angle and become the new face of American wrestling. After this Sunday, he’ll officially be dubbed the American Icon. Angle hobbles out to the top of the ramp with mic in hand and asks Carter if he just said he’s an American Icon. Carter says absolutely, and Angle says he’s not an American Icon, he’s an American asshole. We’re three days away from Angle ending Carter’s pitiful career, but he doesn’t want to wait three days, and he wants to fight right now. Angle rolls into the ring, but Carter heads for the hills as Angle stares after him. Angle starts to head to the back, but Carter comes out of nowhere to go after Angle’s knee. He clips Angle from behind, then dumps him into the ring and dropkicks Angle’s leg out from under him before putting him back in the leglock. It’s really a heel hook, but whatever, it’s causing Angle a lot of pain. Referees come out to break it up and attend to Angle as Carter looks on smugly.

MVP is backstage giving Davey Richards a pep talk and tells him to show that strong style spirit. Davey says he remembered the night in Japan where he asked MVP for advice to make it in this business, and MVP said you have to stand for something or you’ll fall for anything, and Davey’s still breathing.

A bunch of Knockouts (and Chris Sabin) are backstage, and they’re…WALKING!

We see a video package hyping the return of Kenny King, now known as The King Of The Night, as he makes his way around the partying and gambling scene in Las Vegas.

Velvet Sky, ODB & Madison Rayne vs Gail Kim, Lei’D Tapa & The Alpha Female

Madison and Gail go at it right from the beginning and Madison unloads on Gail until Gail drills her with a dropkick to the midsection. Gail covers for 2, but misses a charge and Madison tags in ODB, who runs Gail over with a series of clotheslines. ODB takes a couple of shots at Tapa and Alpha, but Gail backjumps her and tags in Tapa, who picks ODB up over her shoulder and hits a backbreaker. Tapa does the hair lift, but ODB rolls to her corner and tags in Velvet as Tapa tags in Alpha. Velvet takes Alpha down and covers her for 2, then everyone goes out to the floor and leaves Velvet alone in the ring with Sabin, who comes in with his belt in his hand. She calls him a skank, she slaps him, then drops down when Sabin charges her and he sails out to the floor. Alpha tries to sneak up on her from behind, but Velvet hits In Your Face for the win.

Winners: Velvet Sky, ODB & Madison Rayne

Sabin is badly distraught over the loss his new flame just suffered. The match was okay except when Alpha was in there. She REALLY sucks.

Samuel Shaw comes up to some dude on his cell phone backstage and asks where the dressing room, and the guy helpfully points him in the right direction. We’re at commercial.

We see another video package for Jeff Willow, who is coming to Impact Wrestling.

Back to the wacky antics of Samuel Shaw, who sees a head of red hair through a crack in the door and slowly sneaks in. He thinks it’s Christy, but it’s really Ken Anderson in a wig. He calls Shaw a creepy bastard, pulls the wig off, and beats the crap out of Shaw before drawing on his face with lipstick while calling him a perv. He tells Shaw that he’ll be in a bad way if he doesn’t leave her alone, but Shaw says he’ll see them both on Sunday.

Time for a video package looking at the history of Gunner and James Storm, culminating in James Storm screwing Gunner out of his World Title shot, then we head to the ring where Gunner comes out to share his thoughts. A lot of things have changed in his life the last few weeks, and he does the best he can with any given situation and has worked hard for everything he has, but a lot changed when he got the Feast or Fired briefcase. Storm stabbed him in the back, which he never thought he would, but they got in a fight last week and Storm ran like a coward. He has Storm in a cage this weekend, and the cage brings back PTSD memories for him, and this Sunday will be their battlefield. James Storm comes out and says Gunner obviously takes the military stuff seriously, but to him it sounds like an excuse so he can tell people when he’s 80 about how he could have been World Champion if it wasn’t for that James Storm fella. In three days, Gunner better pack his lunch because this is gonna be an all day ass whipping. Gunner says that’s fine because he has something to prove to everyone, and that’s that Storm wasn’t the toughest man on their team, and if Storm is so tough, maybe they should just make it a Last Man Standing match. Storm says that if Gunner wants to test his manhood, then he better know that he was the World Champion, something Gunner will never be, and since Gunner is so religious, he should pray to his god before he gets in that cage because James Storm is gonna cut him down. Storm kneelifts Gunner in the ding ding, then waits for Gunner to sit up so he can knock him out with the Last Call. Storm walks off, but turns back to tell Gunner that he’s got three days.

Bobby Roode is backstage with Brian Hebner asking where his dad is, and Hebner says he was with MVP’s team last time he checked. Roode says it’s time and shoves him to go get this started. Meanwhile, Davey Richards is backstage with his shoulder taped up, and we’ll find out his decision…NEXT!

It’s…THE REST OF MAIN EVENT TIME!

Elimination Match Part 2: Bobby Roode vs Davey Richards

Bobby Roode is in the ring alone and tells the referee that Davey Richards has had his hour and to start counting Richards out, but Richards makes his way back out with MVP and Eddie in tow at 8. Roode goes right after him arm, slamming it into the ringpost and then twsting on an arm wringer. Roode drops a knee on Davey’s arm and then stops to take his time before dropping a knee, but Davey rolls out of the way and then gets a boot in Roode’s face as he charges him in the corner. Davey tries to climb the ropes, but his arm is too hurt to get up, so he gives Roode a dragon screw legwhip through the ropes instead. Davey swings at Roode with his good arm, slides between Roode’s legs, then drills him with a leaping enziguiri. Davey drops down as Roode charges and sends Roode out to the floor, then wipes Roode out with a dive through the ropes. Davey nails Roode with a missile dropkick and covers for 2, then starts hammering Roode with kicks, Roode ducks and goes for the Roode Bomb, Davey slips through and gets a sunset flip for 2, then gets Roode back in the half crab. Davey only has one arm and can’t keep the hold, and Roode kicks Davey’s bad arm until he breaks. Davey charges Roode in the corner, but roode sidesteps and sends Davey shoulder first into the ringpost. Roode hits the Roode Bomb and then gets the Crippler Crossface and forces Davey to tap out.

Winner: Bobby Roode

Roode goes right to a Fujiwara armbar, but breaks and ditches out of the ring when Eddie and MVP run out to make the save. Roode gets a mic and tells MVP that he’ll see him Sunday.

Tigre Uno is coming to Lockdown this Sunday!

Brutus Magnus says that Ethan tells him that Dixie has this Lethal Lockdown thing is in hand, and Dixie says she does and they there’s nothing bigger than her retaining control of TNA. Magnus says what about her World Champion, and Dixie says her plan is for Magnus to back up his mouth and go beat Joe at Lockdown. Magnus asks her if she’s serious, and she says serious as a heart attack. Magnus walks out, and he’ll go face to face with Samoa Joe after this commercial break!

Time for our final push for the PPV, as Samoa Joe comes out to the ring to confront Magnus, and he says that if he has one shred of courage left in his body, he’ll come down here in front of his countrymen and hear what he has to say. Magnus obliges by coming out to the ring and telling Joe that he should just know better than to question his courage or his manhood because Joe knows him better than anybody. Joe stood side by side with him, and they won titles in TNA and Japan before Joe walked out on him. Then Joe suddenly wanted to be his partner again in the Main Event Mafia, but once the Mafia was gone, Magnus became the main event and the World Champion, and that fills Joe with anger and rage, and that rage will be his undoing. Magnus has a healthy fear of Joe because he’s a bad, bad man who has been the champion before, but Magnus asks how many times Joe has had a chance to be the top champion in the industry, but blew it because he can’t control his rage? Magnus will take advantage of that weakness, and that’s why he will walk out of the cage still the World Champion. Joe tells Magnus that everything he said is true, except his perspective is a bit skewed. When he has an opponent beat, he sometimes has a problem beating them becauser he’d rather shed their blood. Sometimes he blacks out and doesn’t understand the things he does, and Magnus is right, the rules of pro wrestling are not conducive to his brand of violence. But at Lockdown, it’s Joe’s rules, and that means you either get knocked out of you tap out, and we ll know that Magnus is very capable of doing one of those things. The crowd reminds Magnus that he tapped out as Joe tells him that he will shed Magnus’ blood, and not only will Magnus not walk out with the TNA World Title, he won’t walk out at all. Magnus gives Joe the Angle headbutt and starts hammering him with right hands, but Joe quickly turns the tables and unloads on Magnus with everything he’s got. Magnus takes a wild swing that Joe ducks and then gets the Kokina Clutch. Magnus taps for his life as we go off the air, and they’ll see us this Sunday in Miami!
