Update on WWE Planning a Physical Hall of Fame, WWE Rep Comments

– Officials from the city of Orlando, Florida are preparing to bid to bring a physical WWE Hall of Fame to their city. WWE has solicited proposals for a Hall of Fame from various cities across the country. WWE is looking to have their Hall of Fame building in a major city that already brings in a lot of visitors.

Sam Stark, head of the Central Florida Sports Commission, is leading the effort to bring WWE’s Hall to Orlando. Proposals are due to be returned back to WWE by the end of this month.

Sam Stark, the man who previously held Stark’s job, now works for WWE as Senior VP of Special Events and was instrumental in bringing WrestleMania to Orlando previously.

Referring to Stark’s job with WWE, Orange County Mayor Rich Crotty said, “We’ve got some inside influence there, and that’s a good thing.”

Orlando officials aren’t sure yet of the possible site in their city but said the International Drive area would be a natural location for WWE’s Hall of Fame building.

“WWE is seeking public and/or private partners (may include local and state governmental entities, private-sector funding sources, etc.) to develop, fund and maintain what will be viewed as one of the premier halls of fame in the world of sports and entertainment,” WWE’s solicitation to cities said.

When reached for comment, a WWE spokeswoman said, “WWE is in the very preliminary stages of evaluating this opportunity, and we have nothing further to report at this time.”
