Wade Barrett reveals why WWE stopped using his Bad News Barrett gimmick

Wade Barret

The Bad News Barrett gimmick was on his way to becoming one of the most popular things on WWE before the company pulled it from their programming without any explanation.

During a recent interview with We Are Defiant, Barrett himself revealed the reason why the company stopped using his Bad News persona.

According to the former WWE Star, the reason why the Bad News Barrett thing was pulled was that the crowd responded positively to it, which was not what the officials wanted

“I was specifically told the reason I wasn’t allowed to say my catchphrase ‘I’m afraid I’ve got some bad news’ anymore was that it was getting a positive response and they wanted me to be a heel. I personally didn’t agree with that philosophy.”

Apart from this Wade also talked about how he was burnt out from wrestling at the time of his release after being with WWE for 10 years and more.

  • Kristopher Robinson

Wont happen. He’d be more likely to not wrestle anymore of got to NJPW or ROH than the WWE. He knows he’d be used wrong again.

  • Nicholas Giambattista

I have a feeling Wade Barrett will be back in WWE and go right to NXT to rebuild his brand name. He was the first to win NXT and hey it really has done wonder for Drew McIntyre who probably will be coming back to the main roster soon.

It really depends on if you include his time in OVW. He started there in 06 and left WWE in 16.
No idea why that is 10 years “and more”

Crazy reason to drop the gimmick. Plenty of heels get chants or have catch phrases that get repeated by fans. Jericho as a heel recently was getting bigger pops with his catch phrases that faces. Lesnar even as a heel gets suplex city chants. Samoa Joe gets Joes gonna kill you chants … Et etc etc

    Didn’t seem like 10 years

  • ROB-1.

I miss him, had good comedy and a good wrestler.
