WWE Monday Night RAW Results for 1/9/17 **New Champion**

Here are the results from tonight’s (Monday, January 9, 2017) episode of WWE Monday Night RAW (courtesy of PWInsider):

We are live in New Orleans, Louisiana and your announcers are Michael Cole, Corey Graves, and Byron Saxton.

 Stephanie McMahon is with Mick Foley for his 2016 Performance Review.  Mick is excited to do it in New Orleans, Louisiana.  Stephanie says Mick got some things wrong but he did some things right.
Stephanie wants to talk about the rumor that Undertaker will be on Raw.  She says if something is promised, they expect it.  Stephanie reminds Mick about how Undertaker was last on Smackdown.

Mick says he has no concrete evidence but he has a feeling that Undertaker will be here.

Seth Rollins stops by and he tells Stephanie that he has entered the Royal Rumble. 

Braun Strowman says he wants Goldberg or Roman Reigns tonight . . . or else.

Mick tells Braun that Goldberg isn’t here and Roman has a match . . . 

Seth says he can help Strowman and he punches Braun.  Stephanie screams for security as they brawl.  Officials come in and hold their hands out to stop Strowman and Seth.

Stephanie says she will take care of this while Mick makes sure Undertaker is here.

Match Number One:  Roman Reigns versus Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho for the United States Title

Before the match starts, Braun Strowman’s music plays and he makes his way to the ring.  Reigns goes after Strowman and they punch each other.  Owens and Jericho punch Reigns when he gets back into the ring.  Strowman attacks Reigns and all three men kick Reigns.  Owens with punches and kicks.  Strowman with a boot to the ribs.

Seth Rollins makes his way to the ring and he has a chair.  Rollins throws the chair to Strowman and he hits a jumping round kick to Strowman.  Rollins hits Owens and Jericho with the chair and then he goes after Strowman.  Reigns hits Strowman with a chair and then Rollins and Reigns hit Strowman in the back with the chair.

Stephanie McMahon makes her way onto the stage.  She says this match will not end this way and Raw will not start this way.  She promised a handicap match for the United States Championship.  She says that so Roman does not have excuses when he loses, he will have his match later.  If Seth wants a fight, he has one against Braun Strowman.

We go to commercial.

Match Number One:  Braun Strowman versus Seth Rollins

Rollins with a drop kick and kicks and punches to Strowman.  Strowman catches Rollins but Rollins gets to his feet to avoid a slam.  Rollins clips Strowman a few times.  Strowman sends Rollins to the mat and Rollins gets to the ropes.  Strowman pulls Rollins up and Rollins lands on his feet and Strowman with a forearm to the back.  Strowman with a splash into the corner and then he kicks Rollins in the chest.  Strowman blocks a kick and hits a short arm clothesline.

Rollins with punches but Strowman with a forearm and a hard Irish whip.  Strowman with an elbow drop.  Rollins grabs Strowman by the beard and hits a jaw breaker.  Rollins with punches but Strowman sends Rollins to the apron.  Rollins drops Strowman on the top rope.  Rollins with clotheslines that have no effect.  Rollins with kicks and Strowman with a choke slam.  Strowman knocks Rollins off the apron and we go to commercial.

We are back and Rollins with an enzuigiri on the floor and Rollins with a suicide dive.  Rollins goes back in for a second one but Strowman gets in the ring and Rollins with a drop kick to the knees, a knee to the head and he gets a near fall.  Rollins with a springboard knee to the temple but Strowman stays on his feet.  Rollins goes up top and he is caught by Strowman and run into the turnbuckles.  Strowman runs into a boot and he goes for the Blockbuster but Strowman catches him and puts Rollins back on the turnbuckles and punches him.  Rollins goes to the apron and kicks Strowman.  Rollins punches Strowman on the turnbuckles and Strowman falls to the mat.  Rollins with a frog splash for a near fall.

Rollins with a knee to the head and he goes up top while Strowman is on the floor.  Rollins comes off the ring post and he misses when Strowman moves.  Strowman sends Rollins into the ringside barrier and then they go into the crowd.  Strowman drags Rollins to the ring but the referee gets to ten before either man can get into the ring.

Double Count Out

After the match, Strowman sends Rollins into the ring and he gets a chair and hits the ring post with it.  Rollins with a drop kick into the chair against Strowman’s leg as he takes his time to get back into the ring.

We go to commercial.

We are back and it is time to take a look at the match between Bayley and Nia Jax from last week when Sasha Banks distracted Nia long enough to allow Bayley to get the win.

Sasha Banks and Bayley are in the back and Bayley wants to know how Sasha’s knee is.  Sasha says it is crazy that Bayley is the number one contender.  Bayley says she has beaten Charlotte before and can do it again.

Sasha says that after Bayley wins, we can have Sasha versus Bayley.  Sasha says she has Bayley’s back.

Charlotte appears and claps at Sasha’s comments.  She wonders why people believe that Sasha cares about Bayley or that she can help her win because Sasha has never beaten her for the title on pay per view.

Nia Jax appears and she kicks Sasha.  Charlotte attacks Bayley and sends her into a case. 

Charlotte thinks she has an ally in Nia, but Nia grabs Charlotte and pushes her against the cases.

Austin Aries has joined the commentary team and we take a look at Jack Gallagher and Ariya Daivari over the last few weeks.

Match Number Two:  Jack Gallagher versus Drew Gulak

Gulak with a take down and he works on the ankle.  Gallagher traps the ankle and he takes Drew down with an ankle scissors.  Gulak sends Gallagher to the floor and then Gulak slams Gallagher into the ropes.  Gulak goes to the turnbuckels and he hits a clothesline and gets a near fall.  Gulak with a Japanese Stranglehold.  Gallagher tries to escape but Gulak pulls him back to the mat.  Gulak with a head butt to the midsection.  Gallagher with a head stand on the turnbuckles and he floats over.  Gallagher with a monkey flip and European uppercuts.  Gulak with a forearm but Gallagher with a head butt and a running drop kick for the three count.

Winner:  Jack Gallagher

After the match, Gallagher is asked about his heated rivalry with Ariya Daivari.  Jack says he would be right to give Daivari a thrashing that has never been documented in WWE.  Since he is an extraordinary gentleman that he would like to resolve this on 205 Live with a Parley.  Jack says that it will allow them to negotiate terms of agreement.  If Mr. Daviari does not agree, they will have to engage in fisticuffs.

TJ Perkins and Shawn Michaels are in the back and we go to commercial.

We are back and Mick Foley is walking around looking for the Undertaker.

Stephanie stops Mick to see if Taker is here.  Mick tells Stephanie to trust him.  He has a feeling after the beatings Undertaker has given him, he knows when Undertaker is present.

Stephanie says she cannot rely on a feeling.  She needs to know about facts.  Mick’s entire performance review hinges on getting Undertaker in the center of the ring and he has one hour.

Shawn Michaels makes his way to the ring.

Shawn tells the people to keep chanting for him because it was a long run. 

Shawn says he misses everyone.  He says that he misses coming out here on a regular basis.  He misses it around this time of year.  It is always exciting in the WWE, but in January, things pick up a little bit.  It might have something to do with the Royal Rumble down the road.  Shawn has some memories about the Royal Rumble and this year it is in his home town of San Antonio.

Shawn mentions the Royal Rumble from 20 years ago.  He reminds people that he is old.  Twenty years ago, he won the WWE title in San Antonio at the Royal Rumble.  This year, it will be something to remember.  You have Goldberg, Brock Lesnar, Braun Strowman, and Seth Rollins.  Shawn says he is more comfortable sitting on the outside with that stacked card.

Shawn says he is excited about the Royal Rumble, but he is here to talk about his movie, The Resurrection of Gavin Stone.  

Rusev’s music plays to interrupt Shawn and he is joined by Jinder Mahal and Lana.

Rusev tells Shawn if he wants his movie to be successful, he needs to put his wife in it.

Shawn mentions the movie is done so they cannot put someone in when it is finished.

Rusev says you can what that bad movie Star Wars did and use CGI and put his wife in the movie.

Shawn tells Rusev that CGI does not work that way.  He says you could probably put Rusev in there.

The crowd chants for Sweet Chin Music and Rusev says he does not do that any more.

Rusev says to put Lana in the movie and he is not a Wookiee.  He says he is like George Clooney.  Rusev says his wife is better than Emma Stone and she should have won the Golden Globes.

Shawn tells Rusev not to spin Lana around after saying Golden Globes and Rusev says he does not understand that joke.

Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady’s music plays and they make their way onto the stage.

Colin and Enzo get in the ring.  Enzo says normally he does not do it, but the realest guy in the room is in the ring and his name is Shawn Michaels.

Enzo says that Rusev is right about something.  Lana is a phenomenal actress.  Every morning she has to wake up next to that and act like she is not repulsed.

Enzo asks Colin what movie he would put them in.  Colin says The 40 Year Old Virgin, Puss in Boots, Beauty and the Beast, the Good The Bad The Ugly.

Shawn suggests Dumb and Dumber.

Rusev says that is enough for the American pigs.  Rusev says he put Enzo in a wheelchair and they will put Colin and Shawn in one.

Colin says if they have a problem, they can finish it right here and right now.

Rusev tells Colin he has a match . . . AGAINST JINDER MAHAL.

Colin says they will prove that there is only one word to describe them and Colin spells it out.

Shawn says he will hang around and he has two words for Rusev, Jinder, and Lana.

We go to commercial.

Match Number Three:  Jinder Mahal (with Rusev and Lana) versus Colin Cassady (with Enzo Amore and special guest friend Shawn Michaels)

The match is joined in progress and Colin with punches.  Mahal with a kick but Colin with a knee to the midsection.  Colin sends Jinder into the turnbuckles and punches him.  Colin misses a splash into the corner but he hits a shoulder tackle.  Mahal gets into the ropes and Colin tries to pull him back into the ring.  Mahal with kicks and he gets a near fall.  Mahal chokes Colin in the ropes and then he hits a drop kick and gets a near fall.  Mahal with a reverse chin lock.  Mahal with a boot to the back and kicks in the corner.

Mahal runs into a boot from Colin.  Colin with a Stinger Splash followed by a biel and then he hits another Stinger Splash.  Rusev distracts Colin and Mahal hits Colin from behind.  Michaels with a super kick to Rusev on the floor.  Colin with a uranage and leaping elbow drop for the three count.

Winner:  Colin Cassady

We go to commercial.

We are back and Emmalina is coming . . . eventually?

Match Number Four:  Neville versus Lince Dorado

Neville refuses the hand shake and Dorado with drop kicks and a handspring cutter.  Neville goes to the floor and Dorado with a plancha.  Dorado with a chop and Neville is put back into the ring.  Dorado goes up top and he hits a cross body for a near fall.  Neville backs Dorado into the ropes and Neville with a forearm and he kicks Lince.  Neville with an arm wringer and a key lock.  Neville with another arm wringer.  Neville stomps on the chest.  Neville with a suplex and he holds on to the arm and returns to the key lock.  Neville blocks a rana attempt and he gets Dorado on his shoulders and he sends Dorado face first into the mat and he applies the Rings of Saturn and Dorado taps out.

Winner:  Neville

After the match, Neville attacks Dorado after the match and he kicks him in the back and Neville applies Rings of Saturn again.

Rich Swann’s music plays and he runs to the ring.  Swann with punches to Neville and he follows with clotheslines and an enzuigiri in the corner.  Swann wants Neville to get up and Neville rolls away when Swann goes for the round kick.

We take a look at Edge and the Royal Rumble in 2010.  Edge mentions that was his goal when he suffered his Achilles Injury.

We go to commercial.

We are back and Stephanie tells the production assistant to remove the plant in her office. 

Sasha Banks and Bayley show up and they are showing the effect from their attack earlier.  Sasha demands a match next week against Nia and Charlotte.

Stephanie tells Sasha to turn the bass down because there is only one Boss.  Bayley tells Steph that Sasha is a little fired up.  

Steph tells Bayley to address her properly and she should be thanking her for keeping her match with Charlotte due to Sasha’s actions.  She tells them that their match will not be next week, but tonight.

Karl Anderson joins the announce team and Cesaro joins them as well to make it a five man booth.

Match Number Five:  Luke Gallows versus Sheamus

They lock up and Gallows with a side head lock.  Sheamus with a side head lock.  Sheamus with a shoulder tackle but Gallows with a kick and punch.  Gallows with punches.  Sheamus with a running spin kick into the corner and he goes to the apron.  Sheamus with a slingshot shoulder tackle for a near fall.  Gallows with a head butt and punches.  Luke with a kick and Sheamus with a Finlay slam and a knee drop.  Gallows goes to the floor.  Sheamus follows and Gallows with a clothesline.  

Gallows with an uppercut and then they exchange punches.  Sheamus sends Anderson back into the ring and Gallows with a boot to knock Sheamus off the turnbuckles.

We go to commercial.

We are back and Gallows with a rear chin lock.  Gallows and Sheamus exchange punches.  Sheamus with a forearm and a double sledge but Gallows gets a boot up.  Sheamus with a jumping knee that sends Gallows to the floor.  Sheamus goes for the forearms but Gallows with elbows.  Sheamus with a knee lift and then he hits forearms across the chest.  Sheamus with a baseball slide to the head.  Sheamus goes up top and hits a clothesline for a near fall.  Gallows sends Sheamus into the turnbuckles and Gallows with a round kick to the back for a near fall.

Gallows gets Sheamus on his shoulders but Sheamus gets to his feet and he hits a power slam for a near fall.  Sheamus sets for the Brogue kick but Anderson attacks Cesaro and Gallows with a TKO for a near fall.  Anderson picks up Cesaro and Cesaro goes for the Giant Swing.  Gallows is distracted and Sheamus with a Brogue Kick for the three count.

Winner:  Sheamus

We go to commercial.

We are back with a look at what happened at the start of Raw when we were supposed to have our handicap match for the United States Title.

Roman Reigns is in the back and he is asked about the earlier attack and whether he is prepared for his match tonight.  Roman says regardless of how he feels, he has an obligation to defend the title every night.  It does not matter how many people it is because it is one versus all.  It does not matter because he spears the guts out of Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho every time and it won’t be different tonight.

Mick Foley says that he has had a number of encounters with the Undertaker and he is calling on him for one more encounter.  He wants the Undertaker to take a trip from the dark side to New Orleans.  Mick says he has been doing this for 32 years and he has had no greater honor than the chills from the lights going out and the gong sounding.  

 The lights go out and then they come back on and Stephanie McMahon appears.
 Stephanie says Mick has failed to produce the Undertaker so it is time for the performance review.

She says the crowd has reacted due to Mick’s failure to produce the Undertaker. 

She mentions the pairing of Sheamus and Cesaro, the Women’s Hell in a Cell Match, Chris Jericho in the shark tank.  For every step forward, you take two back.

She mentions putting the Cruiserweights on the line, you have an obsession with Sami Zayn, and you lost to Smackdown in the ratings.  Then the empty promise of the Undertaker.

Mick says he is sorry . . . 

and then we have a gong sound and the lights go out.

Smoke fills the stage and the pyro goes off, but there is no Undertaker.

Finally, Undertaker makes his way on the stage and he stops and looks at Foley and Stephanie in the ring.

Undertaker makes his way to the ring.

Undertaker says ‘I’m Back’.  He says it is important that the world should know he will be entering the Royal Rumble.

We see Braun Strowman watching on the monitor in the back.

Taker says he answers to no one.  He goes where he wants, when he wants.  Nobody controls the Undertaker.

He walks to Stephanie and says no one. 

He has returned to the city where he suffered his most devastating loss and the place where the Streak came to its demise.  His journey continues to the Royal Rumble.  Taker says he has dug 29 holes for 29 souls.  He will be bringing the dark side to the Royal Rumble match.  When he wins, he will return to the main event of Wrestlemania.  If anyone stands in his way, they will Rest . . . IN . . . PEACE!!!

We go to commercial.

We are back and Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens are interviewed and they are asked by random stranger about the excitement of The Undertaker.  Kevin asks about how exciting it was that Goldberg interrupted or when Roman Reigns interrupted?  Kevin says it made him angry and Roman will suffer the consequences when he loses the United States title to him and Chris. 

Chris says that when they beat the Stupid Idiot they will be the United States champions.  For 100 days, it is time for a United States champion the people can be proud of.  They are national and international treasures.  Maybe the people need some Canadians to be the United States Champions.

Match Number Six:  Bayley and Sasha Banks versus Nia Jax and Charlotte

Sasha and Charlotte start and Charlotte sends Sasha to the mat.  Sasha kicks Charlotte away and punches Charlotte.  Nia tags in and Sasha punches Nia.  We have a stand off in the ring with all four women as we go to commercial.

We are back and Charlotte sends Sasha into the turnbuckles.  Sasha puts Charlotte on the turnbuckles and she misses the knee drop.  Bayley tags in and she connects with forearms to Charlotte and Bayley with a clothesline and punches.  Bayley with an elbow to the back and a sliding clothesline.  Bayley sends Charlotte to the apron and hits a DDT.  Bayley with a running shoulder into the corner but she misses a second one.  Charlotte with a boot to the face and she gets a near fall.

Charlotte slams Bayley’s face into the mat.  Nia tags in and she hits a running snake eyes and then Nia with forearms.  Nia tosses Bayley across the ring by the hair.  Charlotte tags in and gets a near fall.  Charlotte with a reverse chin lock.  Charlotte gets another near fall.  Nia tags in and Nia with a slam.  Nia knocks Sasha off the apron.  Charlotte tags in and chops Bayley.  Charlotte with a fallaway slam.  Bayley avoids a slam and goes for a rollup but Nia makes the blind tag and Nia with a body block and a leg drop for the three count.

Winners:  Charlotte and Nia Jax

Noam Dar is looking at himself in a mirror and Alicia Fox shows up behind him.  Noam tells Alicia to make it a good one if she is going to slap him again since her boyfriend is not here.  Alicia kisses Noam and then she says that Cedric was right that you cannot handle a real woman.

The New Day make their way to the ring.

We go to commercial.

We are back and Titus O’Neil has joined the New Day.

Big E says Titus tried to join the New Day by clocking Woods?

Titus says he has apologized and he says he is sorry.  He wants another opportunity to be in the New Day.

Xavier says they got his texts and tweets.  He says that he was not talking to Titus about his DMs being open for Titus.

Titus says it goes down in the DMs.

Kofi says Titus wants to take the bull by the horns.  He says that they did some research where Titus looked more like a bull in a china shop.  We go to footage of his NXT career and his ‘make it a win’ prom and his failure carrying a keg of beer around the ring.

Big E says that it looked like a Life Alert commercial that he fell and could not get up.  He says that maybe Titus should think about redemption.

Kofi is on the floor and he reveals a keg of Booty Juice.

Kofi tells Titus he needs to redeem himself.  They put 12.7 Seconds on the clock.

Titus finishes in less than 12.7 seconds but he dropped the keg before the finish line.

Kofi says the replay never lies. 

Titus pushes Kofi and Kofi goes into the ring.  

Kofi asks who wants to see him put the beating on Titus O’Neil tonight?  You want it . . . you got it.  They give the WWE Universe what they want.

Match Number Seven:  Titus O’Neil versus Kofi Kingston (with Xavier Woods and Big E)

Kofi with a waist lock and Titus with an elbow and punches.  Kofi with kicks and Titus misses a clothesline.  Kofi with a drop kick and he goes for SOS but Titus with a Dominator.  Titus kicks Kofi and chokes him.  Titus with a punch and chop in the corner.  Titus with another chop.  Kofi with chops but Titus with a knee and slam for a near fall.  Titus with a quarter nelson and chin lock.  Titus with a boot to the chest and he gets a near fall.  

Titus slaps Kofi and he goes for a back breaker but Kofi goes for a sunset flip.  Titus picks Kofi up and connects with a head butt.  Titus puts Kofi on the turnbuckles.  Kofi with a boot but Titus catches Kofi and Titus with two back breakers and he tosses Kofi aside.  Titus picks up Kofi and Xavier starts playing the trombone so Titus throws Kofi over the top rope onto Big E and Xavier.  Titus chases Kofi around the ring and Kofi with Trouble in Paradise when they get back into the ring and Kofi gets the three count.

Winner:  Kofi Kingston

We see Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens walking in the back.  We go to commercial.

Match Number Eight:  Roman Reigns versus Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens for the United States Title

Reigns attacks Jericho and Owens as Kevin and Chris come to the ring.  Reigns and Jericho fight to the stage and Roman puts Jericho in the cage and punches him.  Roman tries to lock the cage but Owens hits Reigns from behind.  Owens and Jericho double team Reigns.  Jericho and Owens send Reigns into the shark cage and the cage is knocked off the stage.  Reigns is brought to the ringside area and Reigns is sent shoulder first into the ring steps.

Jericho rolls Reigns into the ring and the referee checks on him.  

The bell rings and the match officially starts.  Owens with a clothesline and then he kicks and chokes Reigns in the corner.  Owens punches Reigns in the corner.  Jericho tags in and he hits a back elbow.  Jericho wtih a drop kick to the back.  Jericho with a reverse chin lock.  Jericho with a kick but Reigns sends Jericho over the top rope and Chris lands on the apron.  Chris comes off the turnbuckles and Reigns with a punch.  Reigns with a clothesline and Reigns with a flying clothesline.  Reigns with a flying clothesline to Owens.

Reigns with a running clothesline to Owens but Jericho with a boot.  Roman sends Jericho into Owens on the bulldog attempt.  Reigns with a Samoan drop to Jericho.  Reigns with Neverending Story to Jericho and then Owens with an elbow but Reigns takes care of Owens.  Reigns sets for the Superman punch but Jericho moves and Owens with a punch and Jericho with a Lionsault for a near fall.  Jericho goes for the Walls of Jericho and Reigns powers out of the hold.  Owens with a super kick and then Owens sets for the Pop Up Codebreaker but Reigns with Superman punches.  

Jericho with a kick and he goes for the Codebreaker.  Reigns blocks it and he goes for a power bomb but Jericho gets to his feet.  Reigns with a spear but Owens pulls Reigns out of the ring.  Reigns misses the Drive By and Owens with a super kick.  Owens sets for the power bomb on the apron but Reigns with a back body drop.  Reigns with a Drive By to Owens.  Reigns with a Superman punch to Jericho to stop the springboard drop kick.  Owens grabs the leg and Jericho with a Codebreaker with Reigns in the ropes.  Owens power bombs Reigns onto the apron.

Reigns is brought back into the ring.  Jericho with a Codebreaker and Jericho gets the three count.

Winner:  Chris Jericho
