WWE SmackDown Live Results for 12/20/16

Here are the results from today’s (Tuesday December 20, 2016) episode of SmackDown Live (courtesy of PWInsider):

 


 

We are in Detroit, Michigan and your announcers are Mauro Ranallo, John Layfield, and David Otunga.  Your host is Tom Phillips.

Match Number One:  AJ Styles versus James Ellsworth for the WWE Championship

Ellsworth with some shadow boxing before they lock up and Styles sends Ellsworth into the turnbuckles.  Ellsworth has a super kick blocked and Styles with forearms and Ellsworth is down.  Styles gets the three count.

Winner:  AJ Styles

After the match Styles sends Ellsworth into the ropes and then drops him on the edge of the announce table.  Styles with a forearm and Ellsworth hits the table again.  Styles hot shots Ellsworth on the ring steps.  Styles goes under the ring and he cannot find what he is looking for so Styles sends Ellsworth into the frame of the ring and then catapults him throat first into the ring frame.

Styles heads up the ramp but then he decides that he is not finished with Ellsworth so Styles suplexes Ellsworth into the ringside barrier.

AJ takes a mic and he says he is sorry that you had to witness that.  AJ says it has been building up for six weeks and it was a long time coming.  Now, Rudolph and that chinless reject can go back to the Island of Misfit Toys.  AJ says he can move on to some more important things.  AJ says he has done the most important things already this year.  It is time for 2017.  AJ says he does not have to ask Santa for anything because he has everything.

It looks like it is a Merry Christmas for AJ Styles and a Happy New Year.

Dolph Ziggler’s music plays and he walks to the ring.

Dolph congratulates AJ and he wishes him a Merry Christmas.  Before the end of the year, there is one more thing.  Dolph says he is next in line for the WWE Title.

AJ says it will be a cake walk because you are so good at losing.

Dolph says he is aware of his win/loss record, but this is coming from a guy who needed four chances to beat James Ellsworth.

AJ says he will only need one try to beat Dolph.

Dolph says it won’t be that easy.  Dolph says he put his career on the line for a shot at the Intercontinental Title and he came out on top.  Dolph asks AJ if he knows what he will do to get that WWE Championship.

Baron Corbin’s music plays and he makes his way to the ring.

AJ leaves the ring and Baron says it should be him versus AJ Styles for the WWE Championship.  How many chances are they going to give you . . . little man?

Dolph says you might be new around here, but you don’t get chances, you earn them.  Dolph says he earned his shot while you took the week off. 

Baron says the only reason why you earned anything was because he wasn’t there.  He says that Dolph will lose because that is what you do.  You don’t steal the show, you steal opportunities and you waste them.

Corbin with a punch and Ziggler gets in some shots but Corbin hits End of Days.

We go to commercial.

We are back and Daniel Bryan is with Dolph Ziggler.  Daniel tells Dolph not to let Baron draw you in.

Ziggler demands Baron Corbin tonight.

Daniel gives Dolph the match, but he tells Dolph if Corbin beats him, he gets the title match next week.

Dolph says he will go out with a fight.

Match Number Two:  Miz (with Maryse) versus Apollo Crews for the Intercontinental Title

Crews with a crucifix for a near fall and then he follows with a La Magistral for a near fall.  Miz with a kick and a punch.  Crews floats over in the corner and then hits a drop kick for a near fall.  Crews with a side head lock.  Miz misses a drop kick and Crews gets a near fall with a jackknife cover.  Miz goes to the floor and Crews with a baseball slide to knock Miz down on the floor.  Miz Irish whips Crews to the apron and Crews leaps to the apron and hits a moonsault off the apron.

Crews goes up top and hits a cross body for a near fall.  Miz goes to the floor again and we go to commercial.

We are back and Crews with a kick followed by a boot to the head.  Crews with a leaping clothesline and a kip up.  Crews with an enzuigiri and he gets a near fall.  We see footage from the commercial break when Crews clotheslined Miz.  Back to live action.  Miz with punches to escape a suplex attempt.  Crews with a rollup for a near fall followed by a neck breaker for a near fall.  Crews misses a Stinger Splash but he connects with an elbow.  Maryse tries to interfere but the referee sees her attempt and the referee sends Maryse to the back.

Crews with a rollup for a near fall.  Crews with a German suplex after catching Miz out of the air and he gets a near fall.  Crews sets for the toss power bomb but Miz clips the referee.  With the referee out of position, Miz with a thumb to the eye and the Skull Crushing Finale for the three count.

Winner:  Miz

Renee Young interviews Miz and asks if Miz got obsessed with Dean Ambrose.

Miz says maybe we should talk about your obsession with Dean Ambrose.  Miz says you are the one sleeping with him.  

Renee slaps Miz and leaves the ring.

We take a look at what happened after the number one contender battle royal when Zack Ryder and Mojo Rawley won, but Zack suffered a knee injury and we see the photo of the result of the surgery.

We are told that there will be a four corner Elimination match next week with the Usos, Rhyno and Heath Slater, and American Alpha facing the Wyatt Family.

Natalya makes her way to the ring.

We go to commercial.

We are back and in case you didn’t know, John Cena comes back next week.

Natalya is still in the ring and she has something to say.  She says she is tired of all of the rumors.  Natalya wants Nikki to come out to talk.

Before Nikki and Natalya can talk, Carmella skips out and she says she is here to see how Natalya weasels her way out of this.

Nikki says how does she know Carmella didn’t do it.

Carmella says she would brag about it.  She says that your boyfriend can solve your problems.  You can stop thinking about the SNL after party and realize Natalya did it.  She asks Nikki if the silicone has seaped into her brain.

Carmella asks Natalya if she told her that someone needed to teach Nikki a lesson.  What about the times you talked about Nikki taking the spotlight.  What about the time you said the Bellas are in the WWE because no one cared about them outside the WWE.

Natalya says she told her that in private.  She calls Carmella a Staten Island Snitch.

Nikki asks Natalya if she attacked her.

Natalya goes after Carmella and Carmella gets sent into the Christmas decorations.

Carmella runs to the back.

Natalya says she it and she calls Nikki a bitch.  She has always despised Nikki.  She is Natalya Neidhart.  She is wrestling royalty and you are not.  You may have been the longest reigning Divas Champion.  You worked your butt off but you got everything because you are beautiful.  You are nothing.  You got the magazine covers, you got to walk the red carpet, you got the Total Divas spin off.  You didn’t get it because you have no personality.  Natalya says that her cat has more charisma.  She says that Nikki is a nothing.  That is why John will never marry you.

We go to commercial.

We are back and Daniel Bryan just got off the phone and Alexa Bliss enters.  She is limping and Daniel asks how she is doing.  She says her leg still hurts and she wants to know about what Daniel is going to do to Becky.

Daniel says Becky will get a title match against Alexa next week. 

Alexa says she is injured.

Daniel says he talked to the trainers and she is okay.  He tells Alexa that she needs to wrestle or she will not be champion next week.

Alexa says whatever Daniel has lined up for her tonight is on Daniel.

Match Number Three:  Luke Harper (with Randy Orton and Bray Wyatt) versus Dean Ambrose

Dean with a drop kick and Harper catches Dean but Dean gets to his feet.  Dean sends Luke to the floor but Luke comes back and Luke takes Dean down and catapults him into the middle rope.  Harper kicks Dean to the floor. 

We go to commercial.

We are back and Harper tries for a superplex but Ambrose sends Harper to the mat.  Dean leaps over Harper but Harper with a Bossman Slam for a near fall.  Harper with a crossface trapping the arm.  We see Harper sending Dean into the stairs during the commercial break.  Harper with a back breaker and he signals for the torture rack.  Ambrose gets back to his feet and he hits a clothesline.  Ambrose goes for a running forearm and he hits it.  Harper avoids the clothesline and he lawn darts Ambrose into the turnbuckles and Harper follows with a thrust kick and Ambrose goes to the floor.

Harper is dropped on the top rope and Ambrose goes to the turnbuckles and he connects with an elbow to Wyatt and Orton.  Harper with a sit out power bomb for a near fall.  Harper misses a discus clothesline and Ambrose with a La Magistral for the three count.

Winner:  Dean Ambrose

After the match, Wyatt and Orton attack Ambrose and Wyatt with a boot to the head.  Wyatt sets for Sister Abigail and he passes Ambrose to Orton for the RKO.

The lights go out and they come back on and Ambrose is alone in the ring.

Ambrose struggles to get back to his feet and Miz makes his way to the ring with Maryse.

Miz gives Dean the Skull Crushing Finale.

Alexa Bliss walks in the back as we go to commercial.

Match Number Four:  Alexa Bliss versus La Luchadora in a Non Title Match

Alexa’s opponent avoids Alexa a few times.  Bliss with a waist lock and La Luchadora gets a near fall.  Alexa falls down over La Luchadora for a near fall.  La Luchadora with a cover for a near fall.  La Luchadora with a snap mare and body scissors before rolling Alexa around the ring.  La Luchadora with a Dragon Sleeper and she releases the hold when Alexa gets to the ropes.  Alexa with a forearm and punches to the back.  Bliss chokes La Luchadora in the ropes and gets a near fall.

Alexa tells La Luchadora she is nothing before sending her into the turnbuckles.  La Luchadora with an elbow and she rolls through into DisArmHer and Alexa taps out.

Winner:  La Luchadora

After the match, La Luchadora removes her mask and reveals that it was Becky Lynch.

Ryan Phillippe is walking in the back and he is looking for Randy Orton.  He sees Mojo Rawley and they talk about things.  He says he is looking for Randy and Mojo says that Randy is a different dude.

Curt Hawkins shows up and he says that Ryan was in the Funky Bunch. 

Ryan corrects Curt.

Curt asks Mojo if he can take a joke now that he won’t be a tag champ because of Zack’s injury.

Mojo says they will meet in the ring tonight.

Curt says he will beat Mojo tonight with . . . Cruel Intentions.

We go to commercial.

We are back and Ryan Phillippe joins the announce team.

Match Number Five:  Mojo Rawley versus Curt Hawkins

Hawkins with a chop and he goes to the floor.  They go back into the ring and Hawkins with forearms.  Rawley with a shoulder tackle and Hawkins goes to the floor.  Hawkins with a shoulder and then he hits a clothesline for a near fall.  Hawkins with knees and he tries for a uranage but Mojo blocks it.  Mojo with a back body drop.  Rawley with shoulder tackles followed by a clothesline.  Rawley with a Stinger Splash and he hits a second one.  Rawley with a running shoulder tackle.  Rawley with a running forearm for the three count.

Winner:  Mojo Rawley

After the match, Mojo wants Ryan Phillippe to join him in the ring.

We go to commercial.

We are advised that James Ellsworth is being taken to a medical facility.  He is all bandaged up and he is asked how does he feel.  He is asked what hurts the most.  He is asked about his match with AJ Styles.  He is also asked if he is still friends with Dean Ambrose.  He is asked how does it feel to be dismantled in his title match.

Carmella stops by and he tells Dasha she has exploited James enough already.

Before the main event starts, AJ Styles makes his way to the ringside area to watch the match that will determine his opponent next week on Smackdown.

Match Number Six:  Dolph Ziggler versus Baron Corbin for Dolph Ziggler’s Title Match Opportunity

Ziggler with punches but Corbin catches Ziggler.  Ziggler gets away and hits a drop kick.  Corbin goes to the floor to slow down Ziggler’s pace.  Corbin blocks a kick and he sends Ziggler to the mat.  Corbin with a forearm.  Corbin sends Ziggler throat first into the ropes and then he chokes Ziggler.  They go to the floor and Corbin with to the midsection in front of Styles.  Corbin gets a near fall.  Ziggler with punches but Corbin with an Irish whip that sends Ziggler sternum first into the turnbuckles and Corbin gets a near fall.

Corbin pulls Ziggler while using the ropes to add more pressure.  Corbin with a punch to Ziggler in the corner.  Corbin with another Irish whip that sends Ziggler sternum first into the turnbuckles and Corbin gets a near fall.  Corbin taunts Ziggler and he tries for a slam but Ziggler lands on his feet and Ziggler with a drop kick.  Ziggler with a clothesline and he goes for the splash but Corbin catches Ziggler and drops him on the top rope. 

Corbin wtih a forearm but Ziggler with an uppercut and then Ziggler tries to send Corbin to the floor but Corbin comes back in and knocks ZIggler down.  Corbin sends Ziggler shoulder first into the ring post and then Corbin with a running forearm to Ziggler’s head against the ring post.

We go to commercial.

We are back and Corbin with an arm bar but Ziggler with punches and then Corbin goes into the ring post and Ziggler hits a Fameasser for a near fall.   Ziggler with a front face lock but Corbin sends Ziggler into the corner.  Corbin tries for a power bomb but Ziggler with a near fall.  Corbin with an STO for a near fall.  Corbin punches Ziggler.  Corbin mocks Ziggler and Ziggler with a rollup for a near fall.  Corbin with a clothesline Stan Hansen would have been proud of and he gets a near fall.  Ziggler goes for a neck breaker using the ropes for extra leverage and he hits it.  Ziggler with a Zig Zag but Corbin kicks out.

Ziggler sends Corbin into the turnbuckles and Ziggler with forearms.  Ziggler puts Corbin on the turnbuckles but Corbin with a series of elbows and they are on the mat.  Corbin with Deep Six for a near fall.  They go to the floor and Corbin sends Ziggler into the ringside barrier.  Corbin breaks the referee’s count.  Corbin sends Ziggler into the ringside barrier again.Corbin sends Ziggler into Styles at the announce table.  Corbin picks up Ziggler  but Ziggler with a super kick as the referee calls for the bell.

Double Count Out

After the match, Styles hits Ziggler and Corbin repeatedly with the steel chair.

Daniel Bryan comes out.  He tells Dolph he wants to earn everyone’s respect.  Baron you want to prove you belong on top.  AJ wants to prove he is the best.

Next week it will be AJ Styles versus Dolph Ziggler versus Baron Corbin in a Triple Threat Match.
