Why The WWF “Scratch” Logo Wasn’t Blurred On Raw, Stephanie McMahon Talks

– For the past ten years, video content from WWE’s “Attitude Era” (1998–2002) has been edited due to a lawsuit with the World Wide Fund for Nature over the WWF initials. All WWF “scratch” logos and references to the initials had to be blurred or edited out. This directive has now changed, at least in part.

In regards to the former “scratch” logo appearing unaltered in video packages on Monday’s Raw, multiple sources within the company say use of the symbol in flashback sequences is now permitted, so brief clips no longer have to be blurred. However, it is unclear whether the permission extends to complete matches and other archival footage. One source believes the company wants to develop a strategy to cease the logo blurring before the launch of the WWE Network.

– KPLR 11 St. Louis has a story on WWE celebrating 1,000 episodes of Raw with remarks from Stephanie McMahon.

“It beats The Simpsons, believe it or not Lassie and Gunsmoke were the last record holders and we beat the pants off them,” said McMahon.

She also says that her father, Vince McMahon, is her idol and mentor.

“He’s taught me everything that I know basically. He has many, many, mantras and some are not repeatable. But, the bottom line is you have to work hard, play hard. Live hard and love hard. As long as you do all those things you’ll be successful.” she said.

And Neighbours does not take time off here either.
Simple fact is, 1000 episodes is impressive, but the fact that a show like Coronation Street has been going since the late 50s or early 60s without taking any time off, is a lot more impressive, even if it is a load of old shit.
And anyway, one of the shows that WWE compares themselves to is The Simpsons, which only runs for about 7 or 8 months a year rather than the 12 months a year that RAW runs for. So Keith, if Neighbours doesnt count in your eyes, neither does The Simpsons.

I also think that throwing in names like Gunsmoke and Lassie is quite laughable really considering they are from different eras when tv was still a fairly new medium compared to today.

No keith learmont.. eastenders and coronation street are broadcast 3 times a week every wek of the yaer without a break!!!

  • Keith Learmonth

To the guy talking about shows from the UK. I assume you’re talking about shows like Eastenders, or other soap operas with weekly episodes? Like our australian one, “Neighbours”?

Those wouldn’t count at all, because they only broadcast them 9 months of the year, to give the cast time off to pursue other roles, etc…

  • John

The original Portland Wrestling has WWE beat to the tune of 38+ years of weekly televised wrestling.

  • Jeff

It’s the longest running weekly show like Gunsmoke and Lassie. If it were the longest running daily show the Today show or GMA would win

  • Seth

Sesame Street is not a weekly show, that’s why it’s not #1.

  • Ho Lee Schitt

sesame street is a kids show not a prime time show, n the they say they have the most episodes in history bcoz theyre talkin bout the us not the uk. no one here cares about the uk

  • keylo

there are show on in the uk on weekly with no breaks that leave wwe standing in the shade in episode counts like one has 7914 episodes so where the fuck they get off saying crap like we have the most weekly episodes in history is utter bullshit

  • Just becouse your the children of triple h and stephanie mcmahn doesnt make you more important than anyone else..periode…..

  • Statix901

How is Raw the longest running when Sesame Street has 4186 episodes?

  • wwefan07

I hope the WWE can get rid of the blurred effects. That was 10 years ago. Just do not market it on DVD covers or t-shirts.

  • bluey

For one night wrestling was good again. Break it down!

  • jeff

We best the pants off them!? … “that’s what she said”
