WWE fired over a hundred employees on April 15th, including several WWE Superstars, making it one of the darkest days in the company’s history. This includes No Way Jose.
Jose spoke to Inside The Ropes, where he revealed that he has something entirely different planned for the independent circuit. He will no longer go by the No Way Jose gimmick and try something more serious.
Jose said that it was a tough decision to make because either he had to continue with his old character or go in a different direction altogether. While he cannot deny the gimmick was lucrative for him, the simple fact is he does not want to continue with it. He feels like “it did what it did” and while he may still be willing to play the character from time to time, he wants to show off the more serious and aggressive side of himself.
This set of affairs has given him valuable time to truly reinvent himself by the time he goes back to the indies. We will have to see how different his character will be once the current world situation improves.
