Zack Ryder is a star who was never pushed by WWE but the former Champion used many ideas to get himself over with the crowd including his YouTube show and more.
The former WWE star recently did a Q&A on Instagram where he talked about a number of things and also recalled one such denied idea which he had pitched.
Ryder recalled how he had pitched the idea for the Internet Championship but not only his idea was denied, he was also told by WWE officials that he was a mark for himself:
So I was presenting it to someone to, you know, to get approval to wear it on television. I was denied and I was told that I’m a mark for myself, which isn’t true. But like I said, I didn’t actually think I was the Million Dollar Champion or the Internet champion. I explained. It’s just like the Million Dollar Championship, right? It’s an accessory. It’s cool because with a gimmick and you could have sold these things.
It’s worth noting here that Ryder has recently filed to trademark the term Internet Champion and he has been teasing the return of the concept with a new belt.
