Triple H oversees the works of NXT and the contract dispute of Adam Cole has been a major concern for the brand. Billi Bhatti recently reported on RussosBrand.com that Adam Cole was signed from 2017-2020 for $500,000 per year on a 3-year deal. He further revealed that the former The Undisputed Era member as signed a 1-year extension last year for a bit more money.
Adam Cole will be a free agent after SummerSlam
WWE is reportedly putting all hands on deck in order to retain Adam Cole. Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio said that writers have been instructed to write main-roster storylines for Cole, who is set to become a free agent after SummerSlam on August 21.
Cole has been having a great stint with NXT and is one of the top stars of the gold and black brand.
Cole becoming a free agent could be a trouble for WWE as he could certainly join AEW. His longtime girlfriend, Britt Baker, is the AEW women’s champion, and he is a former member of the Bullet Club with Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks. Becky Lynch WWE PPV Return Spoiler Leaks
Baker had previously said on Oral Sessions with Renee Paquette:
“It’s no secret he comes to AEW sometimes and hangs out in the back,
She continued:
“His best friends are the Bucks and Kenny, so he’s got tons of friends there. I know this is going to create probably a little bit of controversy but I would love to work in the same company one day. I think that would make things a little bit easier. With that being said, I’m probably never leaving AEW because that’s my home.”
