Oscar De La Hoya is known for being a voice to many. In fact, Oscar has his likes and dislikes about former and current stars. He recently said that he is a fan Terence Crawford because of his elusive style and the way he throws more combinations than Errol Spence.
Now, before we get too ahead of ourselves, De La Hoya admitted that just because Crawford is cheeky; it’s not to say that Spence can’t score a knockout over Crawford, but he just believes that Terence is the better fighter of the two and will have his hand raised at the end.
As reported by Boxing News 24, We could see them meet up in early 2023, which won’t be too bad because boxing fans will only need to wait an additional two or three months to finally see Crawford and Spence mix it up.
De La Hoya stated via FightHype: “I think that fight is inevitable. I think that fight should happen, just the way Tank Davis and Ryan Garcia should happen. It’s just a matter of negotiations. I like Crawford. I like Spence, too as well, but Crawford has, to me, Crawford has a more elusive style, throws more combinations. Errol Spence can knock you out if he catches Crawford. It’s a great fight. Both guys are a great fight for the sport of boxing.”
With this, Oscar dived deeply into steroid controversies.
He said: “Somebody told me, in boxing, steroids are the worst that one can ever do in this sport. Obviously, in any sport but in baseball, you’re hitting a ball. In tennis, you’re swinging a racket. In boxing, you’re smashing somebody’s head in. So if you’re taking steroids or whatever you’re taking to give you more conditioning. But guess what? Even if you don’t take the anabolic to make you strong if you take the conditioning steroids to give you more endurance.”
He continued: “Guess what? You’re going to fight the twelfth round like you fought the first round. You have a huge advantage where you can hurt your opponent. Steroids should be banned, obviously. We should have stricter rules, but it’s hard. You have the masking steroids and scientists who are always coming up with something new to mask. Evil geniuses, but it’s hard. For me, anyone that gets caught for using steroids should be banned immediately, point blank.”
