Shane McMahon was flown to Birmingham, Alabama on Sunday. PWInsider.com reports that it appears he underwent surgery at the Andrew Sports Medicine & Orthopedic Center this week.
At WrestleMania, the world was stunned by Shane McMahon’s surprise return to the ring after a long absence. However, the excitement quickly turned to concern as the veteran star suffered a painful injury during his match against The Miz. The incident was a stark reminder of the risks involved in performing high-risk maneuvers in the squared circle.
In a recent episode of Legion of RAW, Vince Russo, a long-time friend of Shane McMahon, spoke about the former SmackDown Commissioner’s mindset and advised him to reconsider his in-ring approach. Russo expressed his concern that Shane, who is now 53 years old, is still attempting to perform stunts that are more suited to younger wrestlers.
Despite his age, Shane McMahon has always been known for his daredevilry and willingness to take risks in the ring. However, Russo believes that it’s time for Shane to take a step back and avoid anything that could potentially harm him. He emphasized that Shane needs to realize that his body can no longer handle the same level of physical activity as it did in his 20s.
“I’ve always said this about Shane, bro; he’s getting up there in age,” Russo stated. “Shane is in his 50s now. But Shane, in his mind, thinks he is in his 20s, and he wants to go out there and do all this stuff. He doesn’t understand, bro; your body is not going to go along with it.”
Shane McMahon’s injury at WrestleMania was a wake-up call for both the veteran star and his fans. While it’s understandable that he wants to continue performing at a high level, he needs to be mindful of the risks involved and adjust his approach accordingly. Hopefully, Shane will take Russo’s advice to heart and focus on performing in a way that’s safe and sustainable for his body.
