According to Mediaite, MSNBC political analyst Michael Steele has proposed a direct solution to curb Donald Trump’s attacks on judges and court officials: putting him in jail. During a segment discussing Trump’s repeated attacks on judges and court officials, Steele expressed his shock at the situation and emphasized the danger it poses, especially regarding the potential reactions of Trump’s supporters. Steele then bluntly suggested putting Trump in jail as a way to end his disruptive behavior.
Steele argued that Trump has been given an extraordinary level of grace, considering the inflammatory nature of his remarks and the impact they have on the legal system. He pointed out the systemic damage caused by Trump’s attacks and the challenges faced by the judicial system in dealing with him. Steele concluded that using the legal system against Trump, just as it would be used against anyone else making similar statements, could be an effective way to address the issue.
Currently, Trump is under a gag order related to his attacks against a judge’s law clerk and another order linked to allegations of illegal efforts to overturn the 2020 election. Legal battles are ongoing over whether these gag orders infringe on Trump’s free speech rights.
It’s enormously dangerous,” Steele said. “I am shocked that we have allowed this to get this far.”
From there, Steele offered his suggestion of how to put an end to Trump’s antics:
Put his ass in jail! That’s how you end it. That’s how it stops.
Now, yeah. People will be mad, they will be upset, but there is no other person on this planet, certainly not in this country, who would be given the kind of grace that Donald Trump has been given to run his mouth the way he has. Attacking clerks, attacking judges, attacking the prosecutors personally, threatening them. We’ve shown the evidence when he does that, how his base responds. And so, the system is getting pulverized from within by Trump, and is being pressed to the umpteeth corner that yit can go in trying to appease him, and allow him to be free while he is still behaving this way.
So, if he wants to continue in this vein, then use the system the way the system would be used against all of us on the show right now. Because you know damn well that if any one of us, if we said half of what Donald Trump has said, we would not be on air tonight. We would be in a jail cell. We would be shut down.
