Cody Rhodes had been one of the co-founders of AEW in 2019 and he shared in February last year that he and his wife, Brandi Rhodes, would not be signing new deals with the company.
Following this decision to leave AEW, Cody Rhodes inked a deal with WWE and marked his return after a six-year absence at WrestleMania 38. He beat Seth Rollins, but then went on to lose to Roman Reigns in the main event of WrestleMania 39.
It was later reported that WWE was trying to lock Cody Rhodes into new deal. It appears that they actually accomplished that already.
Dave Meltzer reports that WWE actually inked a new deal with Cody Rhodes in October this year. It was said that the timing was around when Charlotte Flair’s contract went through.
