The wrestling community has been abuzz with controversy surrounding two-time WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair’s debut in AEW. Despite his respected legacy in the business, Flair’s presence in the company has not been without drama, notably sparked by an incident on AEW Rampage.
During his appearance on the show, Flair made eyebrow-raising remarks, inviting women in the audience aged 18 to 28 to meet him in his hotel room, with a strict “no boyfriends or husbands” rule. The comments triggered a social media firestorm and led to Flair issuing an apology, even expressing a willingness to walk away from AEW.
However, not everyone agrees that Flair should have apologized for his remarks. Former WWE Superstar Tyrus, in a recent interview on FOX News, had strong words for The Nature Boy. Tyrus reminded Flair of his legendary status in the wrestling world, asserting that Flair has forgotten more about the business than most people will ever know.
According to Tyrus, Flair is one of the last greats in the industry, and his mere presence has the power to captivate generations of wrestling fans. Tyrus expressed his belief that Flair should never have apologized for his AEW debut, emphasizing the thunderous reaction and reception he received when he walked down the aisle.
Tyrus wanted Flair to understand that he is an enduring icon, comparing him to diamonds and emphasizing the everlasting nature of Ric Flair. In a passionate message, Tyrus urged Flair never to apologize for being himself and reminded him of the indelible impact he has had on the world of professional wrestling.
‘‘I got a little bit of beef with you and I’m just gonna bring it up with you real quick. You put a post out where you had the temerity that maybe you shouldn’t have walked out there in AEW. Let me remind you of who you are. You have forgotten more wrestling than most of us will ever know. You are one of the last greats, when you come out and walk that isle, that a grandfather can look at his grandson, ‘I saw this guy wrestler and that is why you’re here.‘
So don’t you ever, I don’t comment on social media much, but I believe I did and I used the F word, don’t you apologize for Ric Flair coming out, because when you come out that pop is as loud as it has ever been. I have to remind you of something – diamonds are forever and so is Ric Flair and you need to remember that.”
