Donald Trump’s approach towards the January 6 insurrection from his rioting supporters has become clearer now. Special Counsel Jack Smith’s team interviewed Dan Scavino on Sunday morning and as details come to the fore it looks like Trump will have more trouble coming his way. The former Trump White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Communications has revealed shocking details about what Trump had in mind on the fateful day.
The former president was in no mood to stop the rioters and he didn’t care if Mike Pence had to be taken to a secure location. He didn’t have any interest in saving Pence from the rioters. Trump was trying to enjoy things and even blasted at Pence beforehand when he didn’t go alongwith his plan to throw out the 2020 election results.
Dan Scavino has shared a lot of information on the situation. Mediaite reports that he was the only one with the access to Trump’s Twitter account at that time, and he tweeted something irrelevant. White House staffers reached out to him “demanding to know why he would post that in the midst of such a precarious situation.” Scavino told Smith’s team that the President was ‘very angry’. He wasn’t angry at the rioters, but instead angry that the election was, falsely according to him, taken away from him and his supporters.
According to the report, Scavino didn’t know if they wanted to share any information about the situation through his social media. Dan was told that Trump was interested in witnessing the turn of events by the rioters, instead of trying to control the situation. Trump asked Scavino to tweet “Stay Peaceful” more than half an hour later after the situation turned ugly. Nick Luna who was a former Trump aide also agreed to the statement.
The revelations from Trump aides confirm that the problems for the former president are bound to increase in the coming days. It would be interesting to see how he will try to quash those words from Nick Luna and Dan Scavino. No one can confirm if Trump already has a plan in place to counter these claims. Donald Trump is trying to make things good for him, but these revelations don’t seem to be helpful to him.
