Morgan faced accusations of possessing marijuana (not exceeding 20 grams) and a synthetic cannabinoid. However, on Tuesday, officials decided to drop the charge related to the synthetic cannabinoid.
The decision to drop the charge was attributed to the challenge of proving that the THC, a component of marijuana, came from synthetic sources rather than plant sources. An assistant state attorney explained that no labs in the state of Florida conduct tests to differentiate between synthetic and plant-derived THC. Consequently, the charge was reclassified as Possession of Cannabis and remanded to county court.
