During a sit-down interview with Howard Kurtz on his MediaBuzz show Sunday, former President Donald Trump gave Fox News an option to omit his claim that the 2020 election was “rigged.”
Discussing his 2016 victory, Trump remarked, “So, you know, we ended up winning. We did much better in 2020. You know, I did millions and millions of votes more in 2020. I did much better. And you can cut this if you want, but the election was rigged. You know, Fox may want to cut that one out, that’s OK.”
Interjecting, Kurtz commented, “Well, I would just say, that hasn’t been proven in court.”
To which Trump insisted, “Well, it was so rigged, it was so crazy, but we’re going to do it again.”
Fox News previously settled a defamation lawsuit with Dominion Voting Systems for $787.5 million. The lawsuit implicated several current and former Fox News figures, including Tucker Carlson, for promoting Trump’s conspiracy theory. Additionally, Fox faces another lawsuit by Smartmatic, seeking $2.7 billion in damages.
Kurtz, in the studio, noted that “a majority of Republicans believe Trump’s insistence that the 2020 election was stolen, but there is no independent evidence of widespread fraud.”
Earlier in the interview, Trump claimed, “See, I have a theory: People in Beverly Hills vote for me, but they don’t talk about it.”
Trump also expressed confidence in his 2016 victory, stating, “I was assured I’d ‘win big’ in 2016.” He referred to a group of people who discreetly supported him, saying, “There’s a word that I won’t use on television, but they tell the person a certain thing. But let’s be nice. They say, ‘Don’t ask me that.’ Anybody that says essentially, ‘Don’t ask me that,’ is a Trump voter. And it was the largest number of ‘don’t ask me that’ voters ever, ever, ever.”
