Former President Donald Trump launched a scathing attack on Jimmy Kimmel following the viral Oscars moment where the late-night host responded to one of Trump’s social media posts during the live broadcast.
In an interview on Fox News’ MediaBuzz Sunday, Trump escalated his ongoing feud with the Oscars emcee, criticizing Kimmel’s ratings and labeling him as untalented. Trump expressed his decision to retaliate against Kimmel due to what he perceived as constant attacks from the late-night host.
The feud began when Trump posted on his Truth Social account last Sunday, criticizing Kimmel’s hosting at The Oscars. Kimmel swiftly responded on stage at the Oscars, quipping, “Well, thank you President Trump … Isn’t it past your jail time?”
“Every night he hits me, I guess,” Trump said. “His ratings are terrible. He’s not a talented guy. I hear he hits me all the time, so I figured I’d hit him because I thought he was a lousy host.”
Trump admitted he was surprised that Kimmel read his social media post in real-time during the show, remarking that he believed Kimmel’s response only made him appear foolish. Despite his initial expectations, Trump acknowledged that the exchange had garnered significant attention worldwide and suggested that Kimmel could have avoided the situation by refraining from responding.
